Default when to start fishing silver?

hey everyone. not sure about you, but i got cabin fever something awful!! never have fished silver lake, but i hear such good things about it Im ganna go ahead and buy my washington nonresident fishing license this year and give it a shot. my question is, IF we get a few sunny days here soon, would it be worth driving up to silver and trying for some pan fish? will this lake turn on early or should i just wait till mid april or later? any info would be appreciated. And anyone who wants to go fishing with me up there and show me around would be appreciated even more!!!

I am not gonna be much help Codeman but here is what I know about silver...
For Panfish at this time of year you will be probably targeting crappie because the bluegill and perch are going to be a bit tougher to find.
If you can intercept the crappie as they leave their wintering areas (think canal mouths)l you will be on 'em. They may still be tucked deep under the shoreline cover or they may already be back out into the main lake..Tough time of year to guess where thay will be.
The perch and 'gills are going to be wherever you find them. Wish I could be more help but without much depth that lake doesn't act like a regular body of water where fish can move to known locations and depths. These fish just have no way to winter along a twenty foot drop off.
I smelled a whiff of spring in the air for a few minutes the other day...bet you did too.

I start catching crappie starting about March 15th. you can find them under docks. look for docks that have lights near or on the dock. The light will atract the crappie. One of the better docks is Silver Lake Motel & Resort's dock. They start out feeding at night under the lights. they will hang out about 2 feet down but in water that is 3 to 6 feet deep. crappie jigs work good.by the end of the month you can cach more in the day light.

hey thanks for all the info so far. I just purchased my first sit on top kayak, and cant wait to take it out. Is there some spots to park and launch a yak on this lake? do they charge you to park up there? It goes against every thing i believe in having to pay to access public land, especially with the amount of taxes we all pay, but unfortunately most places west of the cascades are getting that way. shoot, most lakes in oregon are getting that way. hopefully it doenst cost 5$ everytime i wanna go up there. any direction on where to park would also be much appreciated.

Thats why you need to save your money from silver, join the club and travel to some outstanding fisheries. Plus, you be with an awesome group of people where you can learn so much more than you already know.
