Re: Best Lake-Trout Lake In The US???
Thats a hard one to answer.
My farorite one is square lake here in Oregon. You have to walk in a mile but we use to catch some nice brookies and rainbows in there than there was the big fire a few years back and haven't been in there since. course I'm getting older and would rather drive to a lake than walk.

Used to be Crane Prairie...
Now it might be Diamond...
Bet Crane would be #1 again if they took out the trash...

Re: Best Lake-Trout Lake In The US???
I think East Lake because of the great variety of options. Atlantic Salmon for Fly Fisherman, Rainbows for the families, Browns for the trophy guys and Kokanee for most of guys on this board I cant think of another lake that offers so many choices for all types of anglers.

When I said lake trout I was talking about Lake-trout aka lake-char aka mackinaw. Didn't mean the best lake for trout. Sorry if I confused some people

I'd put Priest Lake in northern ID on that list too.

It's hard to be Flathead Lake in Montana for consistent Mac action. I'll be heading over there again in July.

Yep, tahoe is great but you need down riggers to troll deep or big pin minnows to jig. Sorta miss not still living living down there and chasing the big Mac's.

I think your right - Have you ever fished out of Poulson at the southern end of the lake? My son in law is from there and His Dad holds one of the lake records and it's at the Indian owned hotel ther on display - Really great fishing - We hooked and released 6 monsters in one day - they still insist on using lead core line but alot of fun.

Re: Best Lake-Trout Lake In The US???
My guess would be one of the Great Lakes would be one of the best Mackinaw Fisheries. I think the US Record is out of there (correct me if I'm wrong, the only records I care about are the OR records).
But if you're talking something that's not considered an ocean...pffft...I think all the ones suggested above are great. I fished with a Guide at Wallowa Lake (Lakers in there as well), but he said he really enjoyed Priest Lake, ID for Lake Trout.
