Default Trolling plate

Hi guys, I love reading all the stories and learning all that you have to share.

I'm looking for a trolling plate for my 10hp Honda so I can leave my two sea anchors at home. I keep spending 40 to 50 bucks at fishermans each visit and my wife is going to have a fit. So! I'm looking for a very non costly fix, I've already cut my prop down but its still very difficult back trolling in medium speed water.
If you have one that will work let me know.

Thanks Les

Something else to consider besides a trolling plate is a different pitch prop. I have two props for my 8hp Honda, and it only takes a minute to switch if I know I'm going to be fishing in water that is better suited for the other one. This also gives you a spare to carry "just in case".

BTW - did you cut down your own prop? I had one of mine cut down, but I had it done at a shop to make sure it's still balanced. I'm no expert on props, but my understanding is that it's important to keep them balanced.

Good luck!

I have a 16' driftboat and yes I can't troll slow enough. When idling in slower water I don't go backward down stream for using a diver and bait or using plugs. I've measured the angle of my prop and it's 20 degrees, if I'm doing it correctly. If I need a prop, does anyone have one??

Did you try turning the Idle down? It worked for my 15 Honda. If it runs to cold they also have a updated thermostat. Two props are a good idea also. Hope this helps.
