Default Prop repair

I bent up the propeller on my 8 hp Merc kicker in the shallows of the lower Sandy on Sunday. (Fishing was yuck) It still ran fine but, let's just say all the blades don't look exactly the same anymore. Who fixes these? How long does it take?

Hi Tilla,
Depending where your at, I've used ampro and Beaver marine(in Gresham) Both about the same price and Quality. Give em both a call. Good luck. Been there and done that big time!!! Time wise, about a week.

I took it to Ampro in Clackamas this afternoon. $35 and it will be ready Thurs afternoon. A new 9x9 prop runs over $70.
They also manufacture a anchor rope lock that looks safer and easier to use than what many of us are used to for $25.

While you visit Ampro, check out their 'used parts' display. After seeing all the ways to destroy propellers, you will feel better about your bent blade ..... and then there is the 1/2 a mercruiser lower unit there too. Ask about that ...

Yep, Pilar your right about the "what can happen to your prop display". I felt pretty good after looking at those creations. Someone told me that a repair shop out by Blue Lake has used props by the Jillions! I guess they want $30-40 for them.
Neutron, It makes complete sense to me to use the guards, but I rarely see anybody use them. OK, Ok, if the truth be known I kinda look at them like training wheels for a bike.

Don't spend a dime!! Just take a piece of 2x4 and use it as a backer, take a hammer and give it a few love taps to straighten it out. Then take a rasp or course file to clean it up. It works!
