Default jig material question

For those of you familiar with Aero Jigs, where can you get the piece of chenille that has the palmered hackle on it. The little piece that sticks out. I took one apart and looked at it and it looks like it has been threaded through the chenille. Does anyone have any idea if you can buy chenille like that or how they do that?

I remember a post on this or another board that asked the same question a couple years ago.

Basically, it was concluded that the material was custom machine-made for AeroJig, and not available from a typical craft store or fly/jig material store.

Thanks for the input. Took one apart and it looks like the chennile and hackle are woven together. Three strands. I am making some on some red pipe cleaners and it seems to work pretty good. I don't think the wire will be a problem. By the time they feel that, the hook will be in them. Thanks again for the info.

They are easy to make using a fly tying vise.
You tie a small loop with chenille, lock in your vise. Center a feather inside the loop (length-wise) and start twisting. When you take it out of the vise it curls up and that's what you see on the butt-end of an Aero jig. Tie it on the back end of your jig and that's it.

Stop by River City Fly Shop (or another fly shop) and they will show you how. After you do it a few times it's pretty easy.
