Hi. Another place to look is http://www.creekcompany.com. I purchased the ODC 915 off E bay for $400.00 last year and have fished it in all the rivers in my area. It has performed very well. My son in law bought the ODC sport and feels the same. You have many choices. Good luck.

The Fishcat 9 goes on sale at Fisherman's Marine from time to time. I picked it up last year for $349. After doing some research, I found that to be the best bang for the buck unless you plan on some class III water. I caught everything from a Chinook on the Necanicum to Kokanee on Paulina and everything in between.

Actually, before you buy anything, what exactly do you plan to use the boats for? Just simply floating from point A to B? Do you plan to stand up and fish? You said small rivers, but is there any hard water in those rivers? Plan to anchor? How often do you plan to use the boats? They all factor in when deciding on boats. I've been helping people get into pontoon boats over the last 9 years on the net. I've sold people on everything from cheap fishcat/ODC's all the way up to custom built catarafts. You'll find prices from $200 up to $2000+. Depends on how much YOU want to spend, and what YOU want to do with it.

The original whitewater grade/hardcore fishermans boat on the market was the Steelheader by Skookum. Still is the best/strongest on the market. But not everyone needs that much boat. You just missed the show season, which is where the best deals are made. Answer a few of those questions, or email me with what you're looking for, and I can direct you into which boats you would be suited for.

Kingdeepsix
Steelheader69 makes some very good points about end use of pontoon products.
I have a few demo's with ponds close by and also the North Santiam River, with a good short run to try out and see what may work best for "you". If your ever in the area or would like to give it a try, email or call.
Until then---Happy Fishn' Bruce

Ok, that puts a good spin on things. Go out and look at your lower end Waterskeeters, Fishcats, and the likes. I'd suggest a 9' boat. I don't like much shorter then that (though I've used them). You can find them for around $300 if you look (that's new). But yes, check the classifieds. You'll find quite a few usable boats for what you want. Think there was someone who had two boats for about $300 in fact. But for what you've spoke about, you can get by with most of the lower end boats out there. ODC's, Fishcats, Waterskeeter, etc. But they come up on the classifieds all the time (lower end boats). Just keep your eyes peeled.

OR! Borrow, beg, don't steal-(please ask first), someone that may allow you to try, something, anything, before spending any dollars. Someday you may turn up the volume of rivers you fish and put yourself, or others, in harms way using an inferior pontoon product. :depressed: Be safe and Happy Fishn'
