Spooner, hope you don't mind, I'd like to add another question to your's. I, too, have looked this rod over and like its "feel", but I want to use it as a bobber rod. Should I purchase this rod for steelhead bobber fishing or add the 6" and purchase a "Dave Vedder" 10'6", 8-12lb.? For that matter, any other "long" rods you fishing scholars recommend for steelhead bobber fishing?

I have the 10.5 ft Lami Certified Pro in baitcaster format. Mid-priced and performs well. You don't need a really sensitive rod for this kind of sight fishing.

And while we're on the topic of bobber rods, what is your favorite line of choise?
with spinning...
with baitcast...
I'm always getting a stupid little half hitch around the end of my rod tip - with power pro and tuff line. Missed a fish last week because if it.

For rods the longer the better. I've got them all, from 9 ft. to 11 ft. Personally the ones at the long end of the scale are more effective. My favorite is a custom made lami at 10'6. As for line, I've fished just about all the braided lines on the market and hated every one. So I'd stick with your favorite mono and treat it with line grease or wax.
