Default Rod holders for pulling plugs

Is there a "best way" for rigging up rod holders on a drift boat for pulling plugs? I put mine on the vertical face of the front dry deck, but it seems that the rod tips get awful high to the water and your plugs can't dive too deeply, at least close to the boat. Any thoughts?

I have the outside rodholders on my gunnel rail and my center rod holder is mounted on a post about ten inches high so the rod lays pretty flat but clears my bow anchor arm.Just a thought.

P.S. make sure you can see all the rod tips from where you sit.

About attaching it to the gunnel wall, is there some kind of clip or connection available for doing this? I have the standard fish-on rod holders, and I didn't think it would attach too well, but I could look again. Thanks, by the way.

Bent,

What kind of boat do you have? If its a Fishrite or an Alumaweld you can use hose clamps to hold the bases to the Gunnel.

Willie makes a sliding base for thier boats. I have some on my boat and they work great.

I find it easiest to just slip the rod into the gunnel the blocks are spaced perfectly on most bots so that there is no way in the world the fish can jerk the rod out. just slide the butt between the gunnel rail and the side of the boat slidt the rod forward untill the finger hook catches on the gunnel block and there ya go.

the rods lay down at an angle thats easy for the oarsman to see the tips working plus you dont have to deal with rod holders. its simple easy and comes built into every boat except glass boats and willie unirails.

I have been doing this for years I pull kwik fish the same way for fall chinooks I have seen some viscious take downs and never lost a rod.
