Default Sandy Report

Fished at Oxbow this morning until about 12:30, for two of us we hooked four and landed two. Used typical drift gear but the rubber steelhead candy eggs did the trick again. Only saw one other fish caught where we were at and it was a 13-14lb native. There were fish around, I missed two others using shrimp tails and not paying attention and my friend missed one. The water was a little high but had nice color, it seemed to be rising a little while we were there. I talked to Jack Glass this morning and he told me they had 106 people sign up for the fishing contest at Hagar's today, sounds like it was a good party after a nice day of fishing. Oh, one other thing; the fish I did get in this morning had a tag in its back that read Wind River. Jack told me they get quite a few stays up the river, I've never gotten one before so I was quite amused. This fish was a long ways from its home waters. Also the two we did get were both hens and I now have some nice eggs for next weekend. Not a bad day on the river.

Wow that is great. You must of been upriver from the ramp. I heard they were into them toward the upper end of the park. I plunked at the ramp this afternoon with a co-worker that just retired this year and wants to get back into fishing. Seemed pretty slow though did see one on in the tailout that came unbuttoned. I think I fall into the plunking challenged category. Neat to be out - especially seeing that immature bald eagle swooping around. Glad somebody got them.

Good job Artwo,
Just when I thought the season was winding down. I guess I'm going to have to start getting some payback tips from you. I didn't go out to fish until after noon today and only fished an hour or so. The water was rising pretty fast. No luck for me but did see one caught. Guess I need to get some of that steelhead candy.

Nav,
I've been fishing the long drift where they hold the salmon festival the last two weekends, had about the same success last weekend (thanks to Wisers advise and tips) and will be there again next Saturday with the kids. We worked pretty hard for the fish we got today, swiching corky colors and bait until we found what worked. I caught mine and my friend switched his rod over to what I was using and two casts later (honestly) he had fish on.

Thanks Wiser,
Maybe we'll run into each other next weekend.

I suspect the fish taged" Wind River" was a summer run that was near spawning.Do you have a picture ?

Steve,
No I do not have a picture. I don't know about her being a summer fish though, this fish was chrome bright, just a little rose color on her cheeks.

Thanks Artwo. I think I know the spot. Not sure where I will end up this weekend. But it will be on the Sandy somewhere.
