If you can find a sticker use that. There is a company that sells finger nail stickers and those would probably be best. The NFL teams have a huge deal on their logos. There is a company that builds cheap toy rods with team logos and because of that you have to enter into a marketing agreement with the NFL at the tune of $100,000 to "Legally" use a teams logo on a fishing rod.

I built a rod that was a Jacksonville theme rod and called the team to get permission to use the logo (they used to just send the art and a letter), they referred me to the NFL, who took three weeks to tell me why I couldn't do this without paying $100,000. Needless to say I didn't have a decal printed due to potential liability.

I told them they were nuts to not let a fan of a team decorate a rod, especially a high quality custom built rod in favor of these junkie Zebco dollar store specials

I just got the newest catalog from Mudhole. They had some team logo decals/stickers for sale. I'm not sure if there was a Seahawk logo or not. Seems to me that they were logos from college teams.

2slow,
I have built quite a few rods that I have made my own decals for.My question would have to be on what particular day is your buddy going to be fishing with a representative from the NFL trade mark division??
Further more I dont see many people getting fined for haveing a NFL team tatoo on thier body, same goes for Harley Davidson merchandise. Ever been to a swap meet and seen some of the junk with "trademark" names on it? they could get rich on the 100,000.00 lawsuits if they chose to pursue them.

Back to the decal application process, I was asked to build a Rod for a professional org. here in Oregon a couple of months ago and this how it is done and what you need to do it according to an article from a leading rod building magazine.
Photo shop
A good printer
HP "Premium Ink Jet" paper (24lb stock)
Kyrlon Crystal Clear Acrylic spray
3M Super 77 spray adhesive
Rod blank or dowel smaller than intended place of decal on blank
Black Sharpie
Tweezers
Print copied logo and photo shop to desired size set printer to a minimum of 720dpi or a max of 1440dpi, note anything over 1440dpi is not noticeable on decals this small, select paper type.
Let print dry, then apply 2 coats of enamlel front and back.
pre form decal with dowel or blank let sit for 24 hrs
I like to make the decals rectangular to wrap around entire blank surface apply black sharpie to edges to cover white paper edges where you cut decal to size.
Gently unroll decal from dowel or blank and spray with adhessive.
Place decal on blank and coat with 2 coats of thread preserver pay close attension to the edges as they wil want soak up epoxy and could effect the label.
I like to have a black background on my decals so that they somewhat match the blank color.
If you have any questions on this ask me and I will walk you through it.

I looked for some fingernail stickers on line but could'nt find any seahawks. I also got the new mudhole catalog and no seahawks logos oh well. making your own decal sounds interesting but would have to practice that before putting on a rod for someone. I might try airbrushing the logo on the blank.

What you could do is try a local art supply store or scrap booking store. They usually have what I am looking for. Recently I have started using my color laser jet with clear mailing labels. Simply cut and past what you want onto the label then peel, stick, and clear coat. Havent had any problems so far.

You might try nail salons or places that sell fingernail decorator decals.

Um, I think you meant to reply to Stickfish. regarding the trademark infringements as they apply to using team logo's without their permission. But since I am typing allow me to weigh in with a comment. Some teams will allow you to use their logo if your application is a non-profit or a not for profit. You are correct in that it is unlikely that a person would fish with or near an NFL representative who would push the case for a trademark infringement. I do note that people like Decal Connection will not make logo decals without express permission from the team or entity holding the trademark for that logo. I guess it is just up to each individual as to how much risk they are willing to take or how much risk they think they are taking when they violate trademark laws.
