Default Home made Casting video

Here is a little casting video from the start of the new year. Just a little fun with friends. Please feel free to give me pointers on my two hand casting. But please be constructive

I'll need to see your casting in person on the river for "constructive" pointers!

Great video though. And I do recognize some of that water...

Andy, make sure you bring some rope, because he has issues controlling his arms every now and then

J/K Meskel It looks like you are doing much better than the last time we fished together (it was his first time with a spey rod). Getting the fly out there is all that matters anyway. Nice vids too

Oh trust me I know some of what im doing wrong. That damn right arm just wont stop. And Steel beaver I left out the part about you teaching me everything I know because, well, I didn’t want it to reflect badly on you.

If a would get out more then every third month I might actually improve. Such is the life of being married with kid. With her only being a year and a half I think its just a little to soon to get her on the river with her own stick.

And thanks for the video comment – im starting to have fun with them – if you liked this one you should check out the Kona Salt I posted on the Salty Dog page. I love its music accompaniment.

Thanks for looking guys

It sucks how the muscle memory from the single hander messes with your two handed casting. I figured out how to use my bottom hand that same day when I was "teaching" you. Bad habbits are hard to fix especially if you are looking to catch fish at the same time...

We need to go fishing again... i wasn't kidding about the rope too

P.S. I love Morricone.... That was a sweet vid too

Nice video, Meskel. Now I feel like I gotta get on the water! No pointers from me... I just took my new (first) spey rod out for the first time yesterday, it was comical to say the least. I'd make you look like a pro!

You were fishing well. You all have nice smooth controlled movements. You also have a nice high rod tip stop on the forward cast. Just use more bottom hand. The motion is kind of a pull down with the top and bottom hand followed by an abrupt stop, this loads the rod deeper. Also on the double spey lift the rod like a shotgun to lift the line out of the water and it won't shoot up river on you so far. You want to drag the tip of the skagit line where it connects to the tip upstream just below you. You can slow down some as well. I know you were in fast water but just slow it down a bit. Those rods have way more power then most of us use. We all generally over cast. You have all the skills, you just need to practice. Good luck.

Hey the day we stop learning is the day we stop growing. I can’t say that my casts are any better then yours. And neither of us can say we have out fished each other on the two hander – Yet -. Fact of the mater is while learning we are still having fun just spending time on the water

Thanks to everyone who has given pointers or offered on water lessons or have just like the video.

Im still trying to figure out rob allens’ “no thanks”
