Default Pink worms... OK now, how do I do this?

Never done just a plain pink worm.
Does it need scent? Work it just like a corky and yarn?
I guess I'll let you know! Shall I take my camera? Does it really, really work? Does it slice, dice, work like a bass o matic?

See ya, off to the river!
So far, I have uploaded 6 pics for readers, changed 5 passwords, sent 6 passwords to people who have forgotton, done a Vision Hooks and Tackle contest, finished writing in my front page space, created 4 web pages for clients, and now... now... Before I take Kilchie to the vet, I get to FISH!
Look out, river, here comes a pink worm!!!
Jen

Jennie,

Usually the water conditions dictate how you will run the Vision worm.

The three usual ways are:

Drift fish it. The worm is neutral in the water. Add a small cheater above the worm if the water is fast or you want the worm to come off the bottom a bit.

Drift fish it with a float. Read Joe Superfisky's latest "technique" article in STS on how to do it. Dragging a worm under a float is a *deadly* technique.

Dead drift it under a float much like you would bait. Use some small split shot on the worm leader to get the worm down.

Scents are not needed.

Well, I tried it.
I drifted it like any drift gear.
One thing I tried differently, that I thought might work:
There is a fast riffle in the lower hole that goes into a swirling deep hole.
I let it drift down, then swirl around. My rod would relax, and then tighten as it pulled through the current again.
I thought that this would work!
I pulled it in, and it was tangled, but the second round went OK.
No fish, but then we fished the entire length with three methods, and nothing hooked up.
I'll keep trying.
I think it's a bit fast today for bobbering.
Maybe I'll try it later tonight.
J

I just became a big fan of using a jig head and fishing them just like a jig. On 1 trip last week we hooked 7 fish using that method. In fact I only went 1 day last week where the pink worm/jig techinique did not result in a hookup. Its not much of an option with the vision worms due to being prerigged but seducers seem to work well.

I agree with Parker, dredging a snake under a float is killer. Its important to use a big enough hook when fishing snakes, a 2/0 works well. Hook up to landed fish rations on worms tend to low because guys/gals think that they can fish a #2 with a pink worm...you'll lose a lot of fish that way. Always us a bead above the hook as well to seperate the hook from the body of the worm. No scent reguired.
Good Luck!

I think you can get little pink worms near little pink houses if you dig in the garden.

Cagey - just click on the link.

www.visionhooksandtackle.com

Click on the large Vision Hooks & Tackle logo. Once in the e-site, click on the "Rubber Worms" catagory.

I'll have a new Worm Color Chart up on Monday. Been working on some cool new stuff this weekend.

Try Great American Tackle or GI Joes. I use them with jigheads and floats and sometimes I drift them. They're pretty simple to rig yourself. I get the lil thumpers by seducer.
