Default Red, Black or Chrome?

I have had a difficult time catching steelhead this year, despite some fantastic reports. My question is, those of you who are catching fish, what color hook do your use? Does it make a difference or do you try to match up the hook color to the corky color? I'm running out of ideas on what to change.

I'm not sure the color of the hook makes much difference. I usually use red hooks with worms and silver ones on my drift gear but that's just out of preference. I think the main thing with hooks is their size. I've seen some people drifting small corkies and yarn with 3/0 hooks while others use 6's. I stick with #2 most of the time. When you buy hooks focus on quality not color.

I agree with above, we ususlly use 2/0 gammies when drifting. I have found times when eggs don't seem to matter and corkies and yarn are the ticket. This year we have had our best success on plugs. In fact for four trips we have landed six fish, and slept through a few. As the water clears then you can reduce your hook size and bait size. Again focus on quality hooks and a tight line.
