Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
It was a great day on the Santiam. the weather wasn't bad as I had feared, a bit wet but no wind or major downpours. Bruce( Water Ready) gave us a great trip to break us in and we will be back- pontoons are very steady, and when you want to "play" they handle the river's rapids well. Plus they are fun! Thanks Bruce, Gregg and John!

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
Yep..it was a good time. It was a comedy of errors for a while there and I'm glad I was able to provide some entertainment. The water was high and swift and the fishing was slow, but we learned a lot and met some new Ifishers.
Bruce - we'll definitely do it again.

OK, where's that pic of Gregg riding side saddle on one 'toon? Gotta see it.

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
ORS- didn't get the chance to ride side saddle. Did get up close an personal with a tree though
If any of you have ever thought about trying or buying a pontoon, WaterReady is the way to go. I must warn you, however, you will be spoiled. Bruce's innovations into this industry are unparalleled. His floorboard alone in the best on the market.(standing on a toon, in fast water and drift fishing, whodathunkit ) His foot release anchor is fantastic. Even a spaz like me was able to figure it out.
Bruce's boat are extremely stable. Being my first 'toon ride, and having very limited time on the sticks in any boat, I was a liitle apprehensive. But after the first river turn or two, I was very comfortable. Forgot about worrying about the boat and worried about how inept I was. But by the end, I was hitting some boils head on, and having a great time.
Bruce, I cannot thank you enough and look forward to doing it again real soon. I must tell you I am extremely impressed with you, your boats and your business.

Thanks Fellers'
It was good fun, and happy to have been along! FYI I am going tomorrow!
Been gone all weekend for Basketball tourny in Seaside. Heard the weather was real nice today, and supposed to be for the 3 days. If you need to get in touch with me, call my cell.  My plans are toon-a-fishing everyday. Hope to see you all again, soon. Happy Fishn' Bruce

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
I'm sorry I couldn't make it last Friday. Sounds like you guys had a GREAT Trip. I too have a pontoon boat and would love to go out with another IFISHER some time.
Do any of you have any experience on lower Wilson? Any problems to look out for?

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
We should plan a flotilla of toons for summers and springers that would be fun. Bruce(WaterReady) said the springers should be REALLY good this year and it was hot last year, I am seriusly contemplating buying one. In the meantime I will rent from WaterReady!

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
Floatilla is a great Idea. I have another that can fit with it. North Santiam River Clean-up.
We will be doing another river clean-up soon in part with S.O.L.V. (Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism) I have 8 Cats(pontoons) that will need Volunteers to help them, get down the river gathering trash left behind, by some that should not be using the river. :depressed: It is also a good oppurtunity to learn this stretch of river and do some great work along the way.
If any would like to join, please call me(or e-mail) so I can get a head count. If others with their own boats and pontoons would like to join in, that would be excellent. It will most likely be in April now. As we get closer, I will post more info.
Happy Fishn'

Bruce,
Make sure and let us know when you get a firm date for this. Sounds like a good cause and free is a very good price.

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
Sign me up for this. This is a great cause, and I was wanting to demo one of your boats in the near future, so this will work out great. Just let me know what day and I'll make it (except for March 16th). What stretch of river are you planning on floating for the cleanup?

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
This sounds like a great opportunity. As long as no experience with pontoon boats is necessary, I would be happy to take you up on your offer. Thanks and let us know about the date as soon as you can.

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
Not only that, but we will have a Bar-b-que at the end, at John Neal Park. Would love to see many and try to make a semi annual event if not more. The local river landowners do not like the likes of most fishermen and water people, and we should try and help them to a new perspective of what we do and love. Just a small step towards eliminating a permit system. These really are all of "our rivers", and should be shared, and enjoyed by all.

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
Bruce, wife and I enjoyed meeting you folks the other evening at Porters. I have a 12' cataraft I want you to look over and possibly help me re-vamp. I am looking forward to the clean-up day in April. I'll show up with the raft and we can do the river clean up and possibly fish a bit, sounds like fun.

Re: Pontoons on the Santiam Friday
"Bring it On" Captn! It's getting busier at my shop, so sooner on the re-vamp, the better your chances of being ready for the Season.
It was nice meeting with you also.
I am writing all the names down from these posts for a list of extremely cool and committed to the Clean-up. I will contact as we get closer.
Happy Fishn' all
