Dick Williamson passed on January 17th. Dick will be missed especially by his wife and companion Marilyn and by those who have known him though his decades of dedication to the elegant sport. I will always remember his sparkling glance and youthful spirit. He stood tall among his peers and was respected by all who had the honor of knowing him. May he find open waters and willing takers forever more.

About 250 people showed up to share memories of Dick's life this afternoon. The speakers went on eloquently for over two hours. Many tough old boys shed tears. And I think for the first time, everyone realized how deeply Dick influenced so many people.

To answer the old adage, does anyone hear when a tree falls in the forest? The answer today was a resounding "YES". Dick was a tall tree who lived his life fully and with immeasurable dignity. When he fell, hundreds of people heard the silence he left behind.
