Default Lakes in Eastern Washington

Sitting around planning adventures for next spring and summer.

Years ago we found a lake fishing web site that listed all of the Washington lakes with pan fish. There was a large remote lake north of Walla Walla, with limited access and primitive boat launchs. The lake contained large trout, bass, crappie, blue gill and walleye. The report also said to be careful when running your boat as the were large submurged rock piles that you could hit.

Does this ring a bell for anyone or do you have some web sites we can search as we have exhausted ourselves on search engines looking for this place.

Any help would be appriciated...Thanks

Try washingtonlakes.com. You can search by county and narrow it down. Good luck.

Sounds a lot like Sprague Lake, which is about 1 hr Directly North of Walla Walla.

Problem is that they supposedly poisened this lake which was once a great bass, walleye, and trout fishery, as well as monster Channel Catfish. The lake has now been restocked with triploid Rainbows.....

I'm sure walleye, and Bass will find there way back in there shortly if they arent a few in it already.

I live not far away from Sprague. It doesn't have any walleye any more, after they killed it off two or three years ago. It does have excellent trout and smallmouth bass fishing, and some panfish (although it's not as good as it was 15 years ago). The ramps are rough, so I don't launch my newer boats there any more. I've ruined more than one prop on the submerged rock piles, too. The resorts do have boats for rent, which is the way to go on that lake. If you do go, be aware of the weather conditions. I've had some rough weather blow over that lake in a minute when I was in a small boat. It can get hairy because it's so shallow and exposed. One or two guys die on that lake just about every year because of a small boat capsizing in the weather. Good fishing, though. Good luck and enjoy.
