Default New punch card regulations

I just stopped at the store and was handed a new regulation for punching fish. I dont have the old one handy to compare but was told this just went into effect, and I cant find it on ODFW's page and I havent seen it on the board yet

Tried to scan a pic, hope it is readable.

You're right BOE, my instruction card doesn't include 1W, 2W, or 6W but has W as code for unmarked steelhead. All else is the same

I guess it only matters if retain Wild/unclipped fish. They are indeed different from the codes issued when I bought my tags. Mine only have a "W" for unmarked steelhead.

I thought they were hatchery harvest cards? does this mean you can keep more then the 20 wild fish allowed on your regular salmon tag?

Ok so what about Fall Chinook? With this new stuff most of them will now be 1W correct? Unless they are adipose clipped. So what about maxilary clipped fish? This could cause some confusion for some people as they dont even know what that is or what to look for. I know this because I mentioned the max clip to some anglers last fall and they were like  and had no idea what a max clip was.

The way I see it is any clip is a hatchery fish and would be recorded as a 1. So if someone tags a max clipped fish as a 1W not a 1 are they going to get fined? Just curious what people thoughts are on this.

Oh great! Just when I though I understood the fishing regulations, they change it. This card is different than mine.

I heard about this the other day. They made the decision to change last year, but the codes weren't printed up until recently. Since it was after many of us already bought our tags, the new rules won't be enforced until 2005. I'll run it in the paper. It's going to cause some confusion (even more than Jeff's).

My understanding is that all hatchery fish are adipose clipped and the maxillary, ventral, etc. is an additional clip made to study a certain segment of a release. I understand some hatchery smolt don't receive the adipose clip and I suppose might mistakenly get the second clip. My understanding is that in a hatchery only fishery the only fish that can be taken must have it's adipose entirely removed.

Wiser?, Im not sure if you were refering to my post or not but my main concern is with Rhodes pond broodstock fall chinook. These fish have only been recieving a max clip and no adipose. I know to look for it but some people have no idea they even clip them like that. Alot of people think all hatchery fish are adipose clipped but they are not. Being that the fall chinook fishery there is not hatchery only you can keep fish clipped or not. I know that once the hatchery fish are all clipped I would be more inclined to release an unclipped "wild" fish and mostly retain hatchery fish.
