Default Electric motor regulations

Are there any steelhead rivers on the north/middle coast where it is illegal to run an electric motor on your driftboat?

I know the Nestucca is one stream where electric motors are illegal during the winter. I'm not sure if there are any other streams on the north/middle coast where they are not allowed. You can find the regulations here:

If you run a electric motor on your drift boat make sure you have current OR # and registration with you. It is still considered a motor with the marine board.

Why is the Nestucca the only river not allowing electric motors?

What is a good thrust for a drift boat (16' Clakacraft) I just want it for lakes and some frog water Maybe the meat hole on the north fork of the lewis. Is a 24 volt one better? Can you have some kind of charger on it? thanks in advance.....Ross

The Nestucca is listed as no motors. Where other rivers have clauses written in for electrics. The State marine board claims this is do to the fact that motors were banned on the Nestucca before electric motors where around and no one has tried to get the wording changed since.

Wild hawg the size of electric really depends on what you want to do with it, often a 24V system is fine if you really want to move or hold in fast water go with the 36V 101. You can buy an on board battery charge with enough heads for all the batteries and just plug it in at the end of the day.

Fish Hawg, I have a 16' clack and a 24 volt 74lb thrust 'kota and I think it is adequate. I wouldn't want anything less though. Any more than that and you're going to have weight issues depending on the size of your boat. Three deep cycles aren't exactly light (or cheap).

Big Nestucca River, Tillamook, 250-020-0312

5 mph speed limit for motorboats within 200' of moorage above and 100' of moorage of ramp below Woods Bridge.
Motor prohibited above Cloverdale. (Nov. 1 through March 31)
I've known this for a long time and it still makes no sense to me, aside it keeps the sleds off during winter steelhead season. But come April 1 I could take a sled up the lower reaches above Cloverdale and chase some springers. I don't think I would be a real popular guy in May and June. Ya know like launch at Cloverdale at O'Dark thirty and race up stream and tie up the good holes.
Just some different thoughts on the subject.
