Default A great day on the water

Fished with Chris Vertopoulos yesterday. We met on the Wilson but decided to go elsewhere because the Wilson was so clear. Not a bad day. Fishing was not red hot but, if the fish had been there, Chris would have found them. He works hard at what he does. We tried umpteen different techniques; drift gear, plugs, spinning gear, baits, no bait, scents, no scent, karma, no karma (not hard for me), and some secret stuff that, if I told about it here, I would surely never go with Chris again. Lively, informative conversation all day long. Also had one other long line release after a brief tussle with one that had a bit of color and may have been a down-streamer. All in all, a great day on the water.

I really appreciate the quality of the gear that Chris always has. Always top rate stuff (Loomis, Shimano, Willie Boats). Can’t wait to try out his brand new 24’ Raptor (says he has only had it wet once and is anxious to get blood on it!). And the db in the photos is not good enough for his clients, if you can imagine, so he has a brand new one, bigger and better, on the way.

BTW, both are natives, carefully and quickly handled for photos and released moments later. Chris would have it no other way.

Thanks, Chris.

Sourdough:

Have fished with Chris several times myself and echo your sentiments...he is a top notch guide, works extremely hard for his clients, and is a solid individual as well. I would not hesitate to refer ANYONE to him.

He is a great teacher, doesn't hold a lot of secrets, and is always willing to take time and chat about questions I might have.

I look forward to smearing both of his new boats with blood....

Glad you got out with him...those fish look great!

Nice fish. Chris is definitely a class act.

Ive only fished with him once, but run into him often on the coast.

I was anchored on the Wilson one day in a popular chinook hole. Chris was coming down stream and I invited him to anchor up next to us.

He politely declined, but took the time to give me advice on my rigging. How many guides would do that?

I agree, Chris is a great guy to fish with and around. I got the opportunity to fish with him last year during the Steelhead Roundup and we caught fish on a rapidly rising river which indicates to me he knows how to fish.

Chris, what you doing on my river?

I've fished with Chris a couple times. What amazes me is his attention to detail. Just look at his rods, reels, tackle, and especially his boats. Always so clean.

He also has good etiquet and leads by example. Always a pleasure.
