Talking with guide friends from Northern California to Washington State around Christmas, I heard lots of stories about good early season steelhead fishing. All of the steelhead had one thing in common - they were caught with salmon and steelhead eggs cured with Pautzke BorxOFire and Fire Cure.
![]() Clients of my good friend Bruce Hewitt, a guide on the Columbia River out of Tri Cities, Wash., with steelhead caught near Ringgold the day after Christmas. The fish smacked clusters of roe cured in Pautzke's BorxOFire. Earlier this summer, one of Bruce's clients hauled in an 81-pound king on the Kenai on eggs cured in Pautzke Fire Cure. ![]() These two anglers were fishing with Paul LeFebvre of the Rogue Outdoor Store on a Southern Oregon Coast river on Christmas Eve. The steelhead slammed eggs cured in orange and red Pautzke Fire Cure. ![]() I gave Smith River guide David Castellanos a few bottles of Pautzke cures and some skiens of steelhead eggs cured in BorxOFire. This is one of the results, a nice hatchery buck taken Dec. 26. ![]() My Dec. 23 customers with two of the five steelhead they hooked on eggs cured in Pautzke's natural-colored BorxOFire. ![]() And my day after Christmas group with their three steelhead taken on eggs cured in BorxOFire. ![]() Southwest Washington guide Bill "Swanny" Swann with a steelhead taken on eggs cured in BorxOFire with a little extra sugar and salt. There are several quality commercial cures on the market, but many top guides are finding success right now with the hot new BorxOFire and the already proven Fire Cure.

You ain't kidding Andy! That Borax 'O Fire and Fire cure is something else! My buddies and I have switched over to exclusively Pautzke's for our egg cures. Easy, clean and deadly on fish!

So, is it safe to assume you get free product/have a sticker on the side of your boat from said company?

I am sure those fish would not have bit any other cure put in front of them that day
Must be that cure that makes it all happen.

I think they said in the thread about testing cured eggs that Borax cures did not cause harm to the fish ?? If that is the case the guys that market/sell Borax cured eggs stand a better chance of surviving in the egg business !!!!

Good on you for making that choice, just don't expect everyone to agree.
Nice fish Chetco, have not tried to Borax stuff yet but Firecure sure does it. RR.
