Default Wilson river newbie

I am new to fly fishing and I just moved to Tillamook. Is the Wilson a good river to fly fish? How abot the Trask and Kilchis. Is there any trout on the rivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All the rivers in the Tillamook Bay area are good to fly fish. The Kilchis has a good return of hatchery steelhead all the way through the system, the fly fishing is better if you have a boat or some form of floatation device. Same with the Wilson and the Trask. The trout fishery is closed and will not re-open until the 3rd weekend in May. The best bet would be fishing above any boat access. With all of the boat traffic on the river finding a decent run and being able to fish it's entirety is a little frustrating now-days.

The other rivers in the district like the North Fork Nehalem also hold lot's of fish when they show up.

Robert, one suggestion is to find the book Fishing in Oregon: The Complete Oregon Fishing Guide. You should be able to find a copy, on line used, for about $20.00. I think that the current edition is #10. Covers fly and hardware fishing. I think you will be amazed @ how many opportunities await you within an hours drive. Book will pay for its' self, gas money, in a trip or two.
