Worst thing ever in your food?

On the topic of someone at Red Robin getting a fingertip in their salad, I offer up my family's worst:

Mom - glass shard in salad; broke her crown
Wife - box staple in salad; nearly choked.
Wife - rat claw in Kung Pao Chicken, Safeway
Myself - both were burritos at LA County USC Med Ctr cafeteria; one had a cockroach, another had a cigarette butt. Why did I ever go back for a second? Survival on 48 hour shifts without sleep.

Green lettuce maggots in a club sandwich at the now defunct Rose's Deli in NE Portland. The worst part was I noticed one (crawling on the pasta salad dish) AFTER I had eaten half the sandwich!!!

The waiter's response was icing on the cake: "Oh, that happens sometimes".

Gee, I wonder why they went out of business!

When on Spring Break with a bunch of college friends, we shared a huge bowl of hot&sour soup. We each laddled out a bowl and some had gone for seconds when we found a 2" cockroach belly up in the bottom. Other than that I would say it was being stung on the lip by a wasp in my pop can as I tried to take a drink.

While driving down the road eating a bag of Lays potato chips I noticed that they tasted funny. When I looked in the bag to see what it was, ANTS everywhere. That was disgusting!

My mom found a cockroach in her noodles at some Chinese place. My grandpa had the same dish so you know they were cooked together, but he just kept on eating.

Your talking about the old Rose's Deli right. Because in the summer I work off of 21st and Quimby, and I know Rose's opened a new deli up on 23rd and about Lovejoy maybe? I can't remember exactly. I never went to the old one, but from what I hear, after the new one opened the prices went up and the quantity of food went down.

A large black stink bug in the bottom of my carton of milk in grade school. How about a plastic worm in my last gulp of a cold beer. I was able to catch it just before swallowing it.

AS a 16 year old I remember this very well. One warm afternoon I was out front washing the family car getting it all ready for the weekend festivities when my mom drove up after returning home from work. I was feeling a bit feisty so I gave her a little squirt with the hose as she walked into the house. Hmmm....she really did'nt say a word but did'nt seem to be mad at all.

I finished my job and cleaning the family pride and joy and went in the house and said, Whats for dinner Mom?", with a sheepish grin on my face. "Hamburgers, fries and chilli honey", she replied. Cool!

I proceed to plop down on the couch and watch a ball game with my dad when the "okay!" rang out from the kitchen. I grabbed my plate that mom had so caringly prepared and ran back in and sat down infront of the TV. After eating nearly the entire meal and with just one bite left of my burger my mom lovingly asked "is everything okay?", I stopped gorging for a moment and replied "yeah, why?". "Burger taste okay honey?" she said ever so slyly. "ah....yeah but it is kinda chewy I guess". I then realized I'd been had. I pulled my burger apart to find the box top of a Cherios container embedded in the hamburger patty.

Of course the laughter never ceased all night long and the big joke was on me. Mr. Cardboard burger. "Don't worry son, this too shall pass" and back into the kitchen she went and happily banged on her pots and pans in triumph.

Not exactly how you should add fibre to your diet. :grin:

Plastic shrink-wrap in a chicken sandwich from a Burger King that no longer gets my business. No wonder they don't slice them any more. This was in the fall of '98 and the manager just wanted to give me another sandwich. No thanks!
