Do you recognize this machine?
Do you recognize this machine? It would be a heck of a beachcombing rig wouldn't it.
If you know what it is where did you see or use one?

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
Well, is it one of them snow rigs? No, don't think so, needs tracks I would think?
Looks like one of them big crop tractors,...they are extra big with extra big tires so they don't leave ruts in the crop fields and they do less damage to sprouting crops...??...
Seen a few in Eastern OR and WA

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
I believe thats a Snow Cat made by Thycol (sp) The tires are unusual, normally they have tracks, but, they are very verstile machines. Used extensively at Ski resorts for slope maintenance, plowing, etc

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
I'll tell you after a few more give it a try.
Hint: You find them, mostly, North of the Columbia River.

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
Those tires will spread the load out over a wider area and allow for mre flotation over snow and ice. I think I recall seeing them use something like this in movies about the arctic and antarctic.

Couldn't tell you WHAT it's for but there's a farmer that's got one near Dufur.

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
I can't remember what they call them, but it looks like the rigs they use up on the North Slope in Alaska.
A true go anywhere anytime rig!!!

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
Very good Rebel
It's called a Rollagon.
In the photo it's sitting on about 2' of snow just outside of Barrow. You could drive a 4x4 where the snow was compacted but you couldn't stray an inch. The Rollagons were little flatbeds with a cab, heater, really hard seats and those incredible tires. They had a diesel engine which they left running 24 hrs a day (that's a sled off the rear).
We were there to survey for a natural gas pipeline. It was a heck of a deal for the natives. They were going to run the whole place on natural gas .

Re: Do you recognize this machine?
If I am remembering right, years ago at crystal mountain ski resort, saw one or two things that looked just like this one.
