Pressure Washers...How much do I need?
I'm looking at getting a pressure washer for light duty use. I'll use it for cleaning the green off the deck,as well as washing the siding on the house and cleaning the driveway. How much PSI do I really need? Home Depot has a gas unit with 2400PSI and 3.5GPM which is $299. It may be the one I get.

Re: Pressure Washers...How much do I need?
Depending on what job your doing will depend on what pressure you need.
I have a adjustable PSI valve and a gauge to show pressure. You only want to use enough pressure to remove moss or dirt or whatever!! Higher pressure will wear your pump faster and possibly remove AC or concrete paticles you dont want to remove. The biggest determining factor in power washing is GPM. The volume of water increases production not PSI.
Think of it this way PSI removes & GPM rinses away

Re: Pressure Washers...How much do I need?
For light duty pressure washing I would suggest the small electric one made by Karcher. They are not real expensive and are available at Costco, Home Depot, etc. I think the new ones now are are rated at about 1700 psi. They also work great for pressure washing the inside of a boat.

Re: Pressure Washers...How much do I need?
Minimum 2200 PSI IMO,,, I use it to clean mudd of my dirt bikes.
funny thing, my brother bought the Home Depot pressure washer... got home and pump went out... took it back got a new one... pump went out... took it back... and so on. In all it was 4 returns, and I think one was the Honda motor. He finally just took his money to sears. He has borrowed my Craftsman so many times he has more hours on it than he did the HD special.

Bought a 3000 PSI Honda Powered thru Harbor Frieght we cleaned all the Moss off the Neighbors roof last monday worked like a champ, it can be adjusted to lower PSI for more deligect jobs, don't undersize because you will always need more power........Thats just a man thing........Ray

POWER!! You can never have too much. I think General Dynamics (or maybe Boeing) makes a turbine-powered model. That'll skin a slug...

Re: Pressure Washers...How much do I need?
2300 0or 2400 will do just fine for what you describe you need it for.. Obviously, it'll be gas operated, which is the way to go. I called around and picked up a reconditioned unit from Home Depot. I believe it was around $300. Works great. Honda engine.
