Well, there goes my reason to try new recipes or put together a nice dinner party. I will NEVER be able to decorate properly again.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
The news report indicates that the penalty for her crimes could carry jail time up to 20 years. Now THAT will be a decorating challenge!

Boo. Peanuts compared to 11 Billion in Fraud. Leave her alone and make sure Bernie Ebbers and Scott Sullivan meet "Bubba" in jail.

Keta
I agree she is the small fish now we need to after the the sharks.
I am not fighting with anyone just answering what I thought was a question from Amahnee. If I have upset anyone that was not my intention.

I'm NEVER very subtle, you will know when you are "Fighting" with me
The sharks need to be tried and if they are found guilty everything they own needs to be confiscated. Then toss them into the deepest darkest hole of a prison there is, FOR A LONG TIME!

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
Keta
lets not find out how subtle either of us can be
My opinion of the others is that they should live like the ordinary people that have lost everything they have because of them. Let them also work for another how ever many years at the average middle class job before they can retire to nothing but social security. Have them worry what to do for their childrens education. Have them worry about all the nightmares created by there own greed that the average working man now affected now has to deal with.
OR.
"toss them into the deepest darkest hole of prison there is,
FOR A LONG TIME"a quote from Keta

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">Yep...CNN.com news alert. Based on what I heard in the media, I'd say its a fair verdict. Its unfortunate though that she chose to put herself, and her family, through this for $51,000. My integrity is worth more than that. Not much more, but a little.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
The sad part is, she was basically convicted of being a witch. Yeah she lied to the investigators and yeah, she was stupid, but bottom line was, she hadn't broken any law to begin with. If they hadn't investigated her, there would have been no crime. Her habits as an imperious witch landed her in trouble, but I find myself sympathetic to her plight.
Didja all know that she used to be a model?

Yeah but will she do any jail time? not likely. I heard she baked some special cookies for the judge and bailif.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I would agree with that. She's the Queen of Mean, shrewd, driven, and demanding. The average person struggling to meet their bills every month loves to see a tyrant who carries a $6000 handbag into court every day get nailed.
Thing is, a lot of us would've done the same thing if we were in her shoes. Dump the stock, and hope nobody notices.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
her trading originally saved her around $50,000.00 but now has cost her empire about $160million! Maybe she wasn't "insider trading" but I believe the lesson here is " lying" under oath and lying to investigators. If you're a liar then expect to pay when you're caught.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
Well, rosie odonell is not happy. She says "Shame on the Federal government". Well I guess that rosie doesn't understand our legal process. The government brought charges and a jury of American Citizens found martha guilty.
Too bad they can't find something to lock rosie up for.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
Enron executives are still going free and they took millions and left their employers with no pension. And Martha Stewart is found guilty.
She is guilty of not giving a big donation to Bush's election.

Re: Martha....Guilty Verdict
I think she is guilty, but I think they spent way to much time and money on her when some of the guys from Enron and Worldcast should be in jail, they took all there employees pensions and total retirement away, they need jail time, Martha did just what a million others did or would do, took advantage of information. Jail time NO, material compunsation NO because it will just go to some lawyer, she has lost everything she worked for so probably not much to do to her, get on to getting the other white collar criminals and when they get a chance get our boys out of Iraq that is where the real crime is.........Ray
