Are you seeing what I\'m seeing ??
I’m seeing something that I like for a change. I’ve been noticing it for a couple of weeks now without it registering.
I was driving up to the Hump to go fishing when I noticed that there was mud all over the highway caused by log trucks pulling out on to it from muddy roads. I got a little whiney ‘cause I raised dust and a few rocks hit my wheel wells. I remembered, when logging was flourishing, that people would call in and the logging companies would have to come out and clean the road.
Then last week I drove to town and noticed that someone has clearcut a large block and had cold decked just a ton of logs and there are a couple of loaders loading out log trucks right and left.
I had to follow a couple into town and I passed several going the other way. Kind of inconvenient to have to watch out for log trucks. There were also a bunch of crummies parked here and there which meant that fallers were up there knocking everything to the ground. Made the highway look like a parking lot.
Yesterday I went to Olympia and then to the Cowlitz and darned if there weren’t log trucks going up and down the highways every where I looked. I also saw several fellas standing along the road in stagged-off jeans, hickory shirts, a lunch pail and a pair of corks hangin’ over their shoulder.
I said to myself that it looks a little like it did 20 years ago around here!
Whooo Haaa!! THEY’RE LOGGING !!!!
It makes me feel 20 years younger!
I’m going out tomorrow and dodge me some more log trucks.
