In light of certian recent decisions made locally, I can't say i'm surprised. At least we here in the PNW hav'nt coronred the market on stupidity.

When a teacher has a substitute he is still responsible to do all the lesson preperation for the sub plus all the grading when he returns. If his pay is confiscated, he is working to do this without compensation.
Thankfully state law in most places takes much better care of public employees who serve our country in the guard and reserves. Many private employers also do a better job of this.
