Default Hardware Help - Stainless special item

Any of you out there run across a good supplier for Stainless specialty hardware in the Portland area. I've tried the ones I've worked with in the past, Winks, Parkrose, Portland Fastener. Tried Fishermans, GI Joes, Sportsmans Warehouse and West Marine too. I'm looking for a unique item that I want to use for R&D. What I need is: the equivalent of a motor stud mount, 3/8" dia, s/s threaded on both ends (ideally same threads on each end) with a 1-1/4" smooth shank in the center. Threads should be approx 1/2" long.
****Are any of you fishing machinists out there? I wonder what it would cost to have it made if it can't be found pre-man.? Thanks

Many diesel truck engines have stainless steel studs used in the exhaust manifolds and turbocharger mounts. I know that Volvo truck engines used some on their turbo mounts in their VED7 model engines although they would be metric. You might try TEC Equiptment in Wilsonville or Portland. They also are dealers for Cat, Detroit Diesel, Cummins and Mack engines.I know Cummins used 3/8 studs on some of their turbo mounts for the 855 cid engines. You can buy these brand parts from dealers cheaper than going to say Cat Cummins also. I have some in stock at my work I will try to remember to see what size they are and post tommorrow.

Shouldn't be a big deal for a machine shop to cut threads on a piece of bar stock. You just have to find the stock and a shop that will do small jobs.

Also, try General Thread in SE PDX.

Call Mt. Hood fastners. They have the largest supply of SS in the area. I was a sales rep for Fastenal so I know who has what.
