Why all of the drug commericals ?

Have you noticed on TV almost every commerical is trying to sell a new wonder drug? Noticed the shift sometime back, wonder why....
And the big push, every other one is about your heart, hummm.......
Guess all of the money in everything else has dryed up.

Pharmaceutical companies have learned that patients are becoming far more outspoken advocates regarding their own care. The managed care era taught consumers that a silent patient is a neglected patient.

Those patients now insist that their physicians provide certain medications, and they are learning about those medications through direct advertising. Doctors hate it, but it is a trend that is likely here to stay.

I have noticed that too! I really don�t like it though. I think there are to many drugs in society as it is prescription or non. I understand that lots of people do need them. But I think its instilling in our minds that if you have a problem there is a drug to fix it, instead of dealing with it. I understand that lots of people cant deal with some things without them. But I think they are over used and pushed by most doctors.

Actually, the practice started around the same time it became legal in 1997 after our federal government made it so.

I don't know if the UK has done this yet or not? Funny how probably 99% or more of U.S. citizens do not know if it has happened here yet either. I bet if you're in the biz you know though.

Gov. subsidized drug pushers generating mega profits.

We waste billions fighting an unwinnable "war on drugs" while subsidizing the RX companies to produce and market more.

Big money in designer drugs. Just about every one of these commercials also advises of side effects. The list of these effects is seemingly more dangerous than the ailment they want you to use the drug for in the first place. I'm tired of these ads already. On occasion I need an aspirin, thats it.

I have not taken anything besides cough drops for over 7 years. I spained my ankle real bad a couple of years ago. Pulled bone chips up with the ligaments. Not even a tylonal went in me. I am a firm believer that if something is hurting it is hurting for a reason. If my ankle is screwed up I want to know it.

I think that this country is waaaaayy to medicaded. From ritalin as a child to lithium or prozac as an adult. I wonder how many people in this country rely on a daily dose of something.

To Keep us Seniors from going to Mexico and Canada, but the price will prevail and its good to get new names when you in that Phramicy in Sunny Mexico paying 1/3 price for same drug......

Or how about we as tax payers, fund the research to develope the med and the company makes millions. Then they- the drug lords- say HEY, when those of us that paid for the developement can purchase it cheaper across the border, the drug lords want a law passed so we can't buy it there.
Now who is stroking who here?
We need a bush in the field, not in the white house.
Love the guys eating dinner and how we get ripped off by our tax structure.
I'm not sure Demo's can do it either, promises made seem to fall away once in that Big house.
It's pretty sad, we need contribution reform.
