Wonder how big a surge protector you would need to prevent something like that from toasting everything!

That looks like a 500kv sub that stuff is impresive in person the video does not do it justice trust me sometimes the arc doesn't
go out in time and in will melt every thing around it. The temp in that arc can be 20,000 degrees. Those guy can feel the heat and the concussion(sp) from the arc the whole time.

What do you do when your kite wiiiiinds around the power lines CALL THE KITE MAN.

This is perfect example of why although it is an extreme example that you should not mess with down power lines.

me it says 500kv on the video screen

OK who can explain to me Why were they doing that? Was this just an experiment, or something that happens regularly?

That's pretty frikkin' wicked. Looks like special effects from a movie or a game or something outta a comic book.

I know BPA has a test lab or something like that up in Hazel Dell where they do some stuff like this.

Thanks for sharing.

Always like to see something cool play again.....Andycoho....Sled 19 has got it right I believe about the sub station yard. I believe it's a natural occurence when breaking the feed of that much power. Lots and lots of power.

I used to watch the SUPER HUMANS' that were the brains at Bonneville Power, Ross Complex do that kind of stuff for drill to see how electricity scientificly operates. Part of their motto: We Chain Electricity, with a pic of a giant fist holding a lightning bolt!! Neat stuff...thanks Pdx Kevin.... LH
