Default "native" gillnetters

freespools post brought to my mind a question that's been bothering me. What's the rules about native gillnets in the CR? I have seen more Salmon wasted by these than I have managed to catch in all my life.

What specifically did you want to know? Where? When? Who decides? What information do you already have?

STG, that is a goofy looking fish if I ever saw one!

And it appears to swimming downstream.

I have no information on these nets. I'm just wondering about them. The ones I saw pulled last year, had Salmon in them that had been in them a long time, and saw several just thrown back into the river.

Is this take counted into the total run? How does this "take" effect the sportsman's allotment? Who do I call, or do I call if I snag one with my anchor? Why are they in the river anyway? How long are they allowed in the river, when do they go in, and when do they have to be out?

I fish the columbia quite a bit, and don't want to be doing anything illegal artound them.
