Default Federal Jury Duty

About five months ago I got a survey from the Federal District Court that was basically about my ability to server as a juror. I filled it out and send it in with a little excitement in my heart. My first time on jury duty and I get pulled for federal court. Anyway, it's been one of those interesting topics I pull out in odd conversations until now. Today I got my summons for jury duty. I am to report for duty on Tuesday, March 23rd.

Anyone else get pulled for federal jury duty? Not asking for specifics but did you get a good case? I've talked to or heard about a bunch of people getting lousy, boring cases on local and state jury duty. I'm hoping that I get something really interesting.

I got a summons over a year ago.

But then I completely spaced it. I wouldn't have been able to do it anyway, but I should've taken the official way out.
Never did hear from them again, though.

No federal duty for me. I had always wanted to be on a jury and never got called until last year. I got called then picked from the crowd, then picked from 36 people to be on a 12 person just for a nasty criminal sex abuse case. I could have handeled most anything else better than that.

Hopefully you get to put one of the "portland 6" behind bars more than 6 years.

As soon as I tell them I'm from Texas, they excuse me.

Ampersat,
In 1999 I got a summons for federal grand jury which I reported downtown portland. Dunno if that is what you got but it was all indictments. I actually served 2 days a month for a year and a half and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Some of the indictments were incredible and seeing how the some of those FBI people work is amazing. I never truely believe that show "americas dumbest criminals" till I served on that jury now I believe all those stories. You get alot of different stuff to hear some boring some very interesting. Well if federal grand is what you got go for it it is fun. Tim

That would be the best thing other than finding work that could happen to me right now. I would get paid full wages for jury duty through my union hall. Tell them to call me.

That would be waaaay cool if your were on a Fed Grand Jury and got a case of mine that will probably end up in the Fed system in the coming months. I arrested a big-time ex-con that was carrying a cocked and locked pistol in his pocket. Maybe I'll see you there!

I got called for municipal court jury once, but I worked in a small machine shop and really couldn't be away from work, so my boss wrote a letter and I got out of it. My wife has served on several jurys, but her employer would pay her for it, less what they paid. My ol' fishin' buddy got called for Federal Court (Seattle), drove the first day, found out the miles and what parking cost. Then he rode the bus, and collected all that mileage and parking money for himself. All his cases were from various Indian Reservations, some fairly serious stuff. Since he works for Boeing, he made more than he would have working. I've never been able to afford to do it. Besides, I fall asleep at the keyboard . I'm sure a typical court case would have me sawing logs. The place I work now has it in their employee's handbook, yes, you can serve, but no, they won't make up the difference. A'holes. C&R, Steve
