Default Whats up with the North Santiam?

I noticed that the North fork jumped up to 4.7 in a hurry today. Did they decide to start letting water out now?

Yep, the rising river canceled my plans for Friday. I saw a couple of drift boats putting in at Greens Bridge early this morning before the rise. I should have called in sick.
I noticed that Thomas Creek and Crabtree Creek are rising but still green color. And this evening the Santiam at I-5 was also holding green color. We'll see what precip we get tomorrow to affect weekend plans.

Lot's of rain today! :depressed: Looks like most is coming from the little North Fork and some creeks below Niagra. Raised about a foot so far, but not ugly. We are running tomorrow if it slows down, it was supposed to be a fishing trip. Maybe a quick ride instead. It's still raining hard and probably will blow out for fishing. :depressed: Will let you know tomorrow. Happy Fishn' Bruce

At 2100 hrs the river started to level out at 4260 and 4.75 ft should be ok if it dosent rain hard.

Detroit Lake is a couple of feet above the fill curve, so this higher water may be simply to fine tune the lake level. I did not call to ask, so it also could have been for a special project. However, no dramatic changes are scheduled and only a big rainstorm would interfere with fishing for all those new steelhead coming up the river. The lake is scheduled to fill by the first of May, so water is being held back and the river is artificially low until then. If any big changes are scheduled, they will tell us ahead of time. The lake still needs to rise another 43 feet to get up to summer full pool.

The water looked great last night, even with the rain. Hoping to hit the banks at Mehama this weekend. Hopefully Sunday after a big move with a buddy Saturday.
