Re: Yankee or Dixie?
65% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!
But what would you expect from a Redneck from Kentucky...I am surprised I didn't score higher but a couple of my answers showed that I did do time in Carolina & Florida but the time in Texas probably over rides everything.

Re: Yankee or Dixie?
67% Dixie. Born in Indiana, lived in Loosianna for a year or so as a young'en, but I've been here since I was about 4. Guess I figured I picked up my dialect from around these here parts, but I guess not.

Re: Yankee or Dixie?
44% Yank.
I recall a trip I made to Pine Bluff, Arkansas working at the International Paper mill about 15 years ago. The guy I met there took me to a local cafe' for lunch where I sat with a few of his local freinds.
I was fascinated (and lost) with thier talk and all it took from me was, "Could you pass the salt and pepper please". They all stopped talking and one looked down from his paper he was reading and said quite sturnly, "Yer'a Yank. Aint'cha boy".
I said, "Yes sir" and concentrated on eating my greens....whatever they were.

Re: Yankee or Dixie?
50%. Seemed to get a lot of Great Lakes and Midwest type answers.
And who actually says "creek" properly? It's always been "crick".

68% Dixie and that's the honest truth. Until I went to college (only 50 miles from my home town) I had lived in the same house my whole life in good ol Silverton. Where did I get my southern from?

Re: Yankee or Dixie?
45% (Yankee)
That whole yankee/dixie thing doesn't apply on the left coast, does it?
I think when I was a kid, I said "crick" now I say "creek". "Sneakers" were "tennis shoes". But a CRAWDAD is a CRAWDAD!

46% yankee. Grew up in the South (Missouri, Texas, Arizona). Moved to OR in 1961 after high school. Can't explain results.

Re: Yankee or Dixie?
49% Yankee, and yes a crawdad is a CRAWDAD. Ironically, I got a lot of "Great Lakes" region answers, and I've never been there, nor has any member of my family.
