Default first winter steel on a fly

today I went fishing with my dad and one of our friends on a coastal river I decided to take the fly rod, walked up and first cast wham fish on! took me down to my backing twice.I got it in about 10 min.About 1.5 hours later I hook up again and handed off to my dad,it was his first steelhead and first fish on a fly rod. We ended it up with 2 fish and I helped release a nate for a older gentle man. Im pretty excited becuase I got my first keeper winter and biggest fish on a fly rod today also.
I think im gonna start leaving the non fly gear at home more often

That's a great accomplishment, well done!! A "coastal river" you say... now if I could only figure out where the "Hebo Inn" is located

Nah, that's not Pacific City. It's Lincoln City.

Congratulations!

You could honestly be the only person on this site who could say they were fishing/hunting near Hebo and not be trying to pull someone's chain....

Everyone jokes about hunting near Hebo on the hunting forum, so it's funny that you posted that picture. I didn't even know Hebo existed, I thought it was made up. Nice fish by the way!

Congrats on a nice couple of fish!

Help a new guy and let me in on why all the jokes about Hebo

When I lived in Salem I used to fish several spots in the area. Other than deciding that life is too short to bank fish the Three Rivers boat ramp, I always had good luck there...
