Puppies wolf/malamute
My friends dog just had puppies, they are about 3 ½ weeks in these pictures. Aren’t they cute! They are half wolf half Malamute! Mom is beautiful, so is dad, but he’s BIG and scary! She had 11 pups, but one was still born. But 10 puppies is still a great litter. Just thought I would share! Everyone loves puppies! I have more pictures if anyone’s interested. Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
Stepdad used to have a Wolf/Huskie/Something else dog. Beautiful 130# dog, great with the family and cats....but would all but try to kill strangers. All in all, not a good idea. Personally, I would not want a wolf mix. Give me a Golden any day...dont have to worry about those eating you.

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
I like wolves. And I like big dogs.
But wolf-X hybrids are a man-made mistake. They don't fit into either world - that of wolves or that of companion dogs.
Unfortunately, they usually end up paying with their lives for what they have no control over.
On the plus side, a lot of the so dogs out there with so-called wolf parentage are just exhibiting the characteristics of big malmutes or similar breeds.
Unless you're an extremely dedicated dog owner with training skills, fully informed of the special demands of hybrids, and no children or other pets, or neighbors with livestock, it's best to steer clear of wolf hybrids.

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
Reelbeauty,
Since the mother is obviously not a malamute is she truly a full wolf? Where does a person get such an animal? Or are both parents from full blood parents, one of each? Most wolf hybrids I've known were more diluted, like down to 1/8 wolf.

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
I dont know if she is full wolf or not, I will ask today at work. I guess they are pretty rare, and you have to have a special permit for them. She has 6 puppies sold already, and they're going for $300. The dad is impressively huge, I will get some pictures of him for you all. I don’t know much about wolf breads, but they are very good companion dogs. They are totally different around there owners. But when I was house sitting for them, I would go up to the cage and I would be petrified of the male! He is probably over 150lbs and is very scary to me, and I don’t usually mind big dogs. But the look in his eyes, and his size and stature sent chills through my body. The mom dog is more timid and stays back, they formed a pack together, and the male is the protector i guess. But they have also had to put up a 10 foot fence allong there property, and pay 5,000 in court fees just to keep them. They are neat dogs, but I dont know if I would own one. The owner handles the pups every day so they are comfortable with humans. I have met a few pups from a former litter and they were great dogs!

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
I have some friends with wolf hybrids..they are a strawberry blondish color. The 3 females are all timid in stature but will back the male up in a heartbeat...The male is only friendly with his owner/master, and tops out near 150 and about 40 plus inches high. He does not like any one others than the immediate family and is not TIMID when he lets you know it..IMHO, Hybrids are a disaster waiting to happen. They look cool and are very beautiful and require enormous amounts of energy and attention. Think I'll stick to beagles

Why would anyone want to invite trouble into the house? All it takes is one time for something to go wrong that will change your life forever. How do you spell black lab?

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
I talked to the owner, and he said the male is malamute/timber wolf, and the female is gray/samoyed.

That male is huge! How tall is the man in the picture? For comparison.

Re: Puppies wolf/malamute
******, your dog is beautiful!!! I have four AKC Malamutes and they are the best dogs if you can put up with the digging and the howling. One of my neighbors even jokes that they are singing to him. Good thing all of us have acreage. Ours share a 1 acre run.

Thanks. She is a sweetheart. My neighbors love her singing too. Lost our Husky that was part of the family for 15 years. This one has been a great family dog as well.

A really gentle girl Crabbait, to family and "strangers" we introduce her to.
God bless an intruder though.
