When you think about it, it seems impossible.
77 years before this picture was taken Lewis and Clark visited Astoria.
33 years before this picture was taken the first surveyors came to the Oregon Territory and 10 years later in 1859 Oregon became the 33rd state.
The same year this picture was taken my grandmother came West in a covered wagon.
6 years after this picture was taken on November 11, 1889, President Benjamin Harrison declared Washington the forty-second state in the Union.
86 years after this picture was taken (1969) my grandmother saw a man on the moon (she lived ‘til 99yrs old)
14 years later, 100 years after this picture was taken I was an older student learning UNIX and amazed that I could tie into another computer at the U of Michigan Library and access some little bit of info.
Today 120 years after the picture and only 200 years after Lewis and Clark I can, with a double click, find out just about anything I want to know. I can sit in my easy chair and argue with you, who are hundreds of miles away, about a doggone fish!
It’s mind boggling.
