Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
Yup, been wondering if something like this would happen... Ol' George is just STEAMING from only making it to the WS last year, not winning it all.
He, and a few owners like him, are a big part of what has ruined baseball...money means nothing to them.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
Anddddd.....to top it off....
Rangers get Soriano, a tremendous offensive 2nd baseman, no doubt. But, once again, 2004 will be plagued with 9-7 defeats. Offense brings in the fans, defense wins ballgames, doesn't matter whether it's basket, foot, or baseball.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
I can't believe the owner of a sports team wants to actually win games, and then has the gall to pick up players to help do that. The nerve of them!!
(note the sarcasm...I'm laying it on pretty thick)
This is what its all about. Yanks have a nice little dynasty of sorts going on...more power to them. As for me, I'm a Rangers fan and always will be. Some years it feels good, others its just humiliating. However, I'm not going to slight another team just for continually picking up good players to help their team out...its what its all about.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
This is a shame. Didn't baseball block the A-Rod trade to Boston since salary didn't match? What is going on. The Yankees can trade $4.5 million a year for $25.2 a year and Boston couldn't trade $18 million a year for $25.3.

Don't you mean a tremendous DEFENSIVE 2nd baseman. He's is a great 2nd baseman, but as far as offense goes, he did absolutely nothing for the Yankees in the post season last year. He struck out 26 times!!!!!! didn't follow him much in the regular season, but if it was anything like the post, i'd say let the Rangers have him!! I hate the Yankees anyway. I wish they WOULD have kept Soriano. That's a guaranteed whiff right there! SSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTRIKE 3!!!

the evil empire
so true about the rangers losing alot of 9-7 ballgames. the rangers problems lies in their pitching.
I don't know about soriano being a great defensive 2b. he was among the league leaders in errors last year.
but its all about my padres in 04'

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
What a bum deal, was hoping that he would end up in Boston. Will be interesting to see how Him and Jeter work together on the left side of the infield. I am sure he will be a great third baseman as he is a shortstop. Just wish he was still playing in Seattle

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
I am a huge BoSox fan and this is trade is why the Yankee's are considered the evil empire. It is sickening the way they "buy" WS rings year after year. They will have a pay roll over 200 million next year. Majority of the teams are well under 100m. Nothing will change until they impose a salary cap.
I just hope all of those ego's dont expolde in that dugout.
Go SOX!

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
Well with Gary Sheffield in that dugout anything can happen. You get past Mussina and a fragile Kevin Brown then who do you have on the mound? They are sure going to miss Clemens and Pettite.
So as formidable as the Yanks seem they are not without their flaws.
Any clubhouse with Kevin Brown and Gary Sheffield is not going to be a pleasant place to be. Just ask the Dodgers about those two.
I still like the Sox chances....unless of course the Yankees pick up Greg Maddux.

The team you love to hate just became even easier to hate
It must be awful to be a Red Sox fan today.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
The real idiot that did the most to damage baseball was the Texas owner (fergit name) who hired ARod with that rediculously lucrative contract.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
Same thing that ticks me off about the Lakers. I'd rather see teams that have an equal chance than rich owners buying the best talent so they can buy a ring. Why play, whynot just hand them the trophy and be done with it?

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
If your favorite team were in the same position as the Yankees, would you still complain? C'mon, answer honestly.

Re: A - Rod to the Yankees
Well at least the Yankees didn't get Maddux like ESPN was reporting.
I like the Cubbies too and hope they do well but the Dodgers are my team and I was hoping they would end up with Maddux.
Dusty Baker is a great manager
