Default Custom Rods

Hey everyone! I am looking to try and start building my own rods and have no clue where to start. I realize this is probably a difficult thing to undertake but I will have some time away from work the next month or so and feel brave. Any info on where to start (websites and or books) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

There's a rod building seminar at Lamiglas April 9th and 10th.
It's there for beginners to intermediate.

Rod building supplies will be included such as rod and components for a small fee.

Looks like the deadline is Jan 12th and they will only RSVP 50 participants.

The folks at Lamiglas are fantastic & quite gracious. Pretty much open the entire facility. By rodbuilders for rodbuilders and if I lived closer I would not miss it for the world.

The workshop at Lamiglas doesn't involve building a complete rod, it only involves building the blank.

Anglers Workshop is located on the East side of I5 along the access road next door to Lamiglas. Their logo is at the top of this page, but here is the link to the location of the shop

http://www.anglersworkshop.com/about.aspx

Lots of us here will give you a hand and point you in the right direction. Building a rod isn't that hard, but I must warn you that it is addictive.

Angler's is about 1/4 mile north of the Oak Tree resturant on the road parallelling the freeway.
Building a rod isn't hard. As you progress and start worrying more about fit, finish, changing how things feel or look, or trying to improve the rod's performance or decrease it's component weight. It gets a bit more time consuming as you tinker and test, but only as hard as you want it to be.

Come to the seminar, Contrary to what was said it is a lot more than building a blank. There are plenty of attendees who will give you info to building your rod including me. All you need to do is ask. Iv'e been going there for 30 years and know you will get your questions answered.

Absolutely!

The BYOB (build your own blank) part is I beleive Thur & Fri and is limited to only so many. You must request a spot for the BYOB and then get lucky enough to be choosin as there are always more guys then there are spots.
The "Open-House" with displays & seminars is Saturday & Sunday (i think) and everyone is invited.

Hope to see everyone there!
