Default Best Fly Mecca to Trout Creek

I need to get just a little more steelhead time in on the Deschutes. Just wondering what is the best fly for this time of year on this section of the river? I have been practicing with my spey rod and swinging some good looking girdle bug patterns with no great results. My confidence is waning

Fished yesterday, no steel, lots of redsides. Me thinks that the steelhead are in a cold induced coma, may be over for the season. Look east.

Thanks everyone...I was hoping to get out this weekend, but last night it snowed, the temperature at our house is holding at 23 degrees, and the wind is starting to blow. I don't think the water temps are going to jump up any time soon. Until the last couple of years, my steelhead obesession has been limited to the times when I could wear shorts with my wading boots. But sometimes you just get that itch, you know? I like the suggestion of heading East. I need to learn more about the John Day...maybe over Christmas I can sneek down there and spook some fish.

Thanks again.

Saw several fished hooked at the Warm Springs landing today. Not much pressure up there. A friend called and said he hooked 11 at the mouth earlier in the week. Still fish being hooked around Maupin and South Jct also. Put it on the bottom,.
