Default Question For Comcast Users

Found out over the weekend that I cannot get local (Portland) stations (KOIN, KGW, etc) with my Dish Network anymore.
Did a search and found out that I can get Comcast in my zip (97330, Corvallis). But I live down a long driveway and who knows if I can actually get it.........but my question is does Comcast do their own installations like Qwest? Or is Comcast sold though dealers etc like Dish Network? Is their pricing fixed or do they have deals or ??

Also, I assume if I can get cable here @ the house, I could get high speed internet also, right? Or is that a different line?

Thanks
Russ

Comcast sent out some people to bury my cable line, but they left a note that they "couldn't get in the back yard." (closed gate.) This was a free service, but I only needed to bury the cable 30' or so.

You can have both the cable television and internet access on one line. They install this along with a modem.

I also live in Corvallis and have Comcast, they do their own installs and it uses the same cable that your cable tv comes in on, you should be able to get it!

Fish_N_Russ

If you do happen to go with Comcast, ask them about there dish buy back deals..If it is still going they will knock 25 bucks a month off your bill for 16 months, downside to that is your on a contract.

I did this and got the barebones Digital package and high speed internet for right at 65/month.

Also if they try to hit you with a "install" fee, get the guys name and #, wait a day and call em back. Say that the only way you will do it is if you drop the install fee...can't promise anything but it worked for me!
Good Luck

Let me see... the more tv watched, the less my kids work on their school work...seems simple to me.

Cheaper and better grades without cable...and then they read more, play soccer more. Easy decisions. Cable is great, but there are only so many hours in a day. The less tv we watch, the less Dr. Atkins we need...

Kayakfisher makes a very good point.

I just got rid of Comcast digital when the rates increased yet again. I switched to DirecTV and cut my bill by over 40% while gaining more programming options. In addition, the signal quality if much better with satellite. I'm not a big fan of cable.
