Re: 2009/2010 Winter Steelhead Fly Fishing Challenge Entries
Well, after PTS picked my pocket. I went to search for more water. I found this 31.5 inch hatchery hen. My biggest steelhead on a fly by far.
Type 6 sink tip and a black pick yer pocket was all that was needed.

A chrome hatchery fish from a local river this morning (only 26.5 inches). Black & Blue MOAL on a 10 foot T-14 tip. Great grab for 37 degree water.

Re: 2009/2010 Winter Steelhead Fly Fishing Challenge Entries
January 2nd 32.5" X 17" hatchery hen. This fish represents a lot of "firsts" for me: First steelhead of 2010; first winter steelhead of the season; first winter steelhead on a swung-fly; and first steelhead wearing the used-to-be-cursed G-Loomis hat!
Here is the fish with the rod and fly. Unfortunately the fish is dead here, but I needed this for the fly fishing contest.

Reason: Needed to show rod and fly for contest.

Re: 2009/2010 Winter Steelhead Fly Fishing Challenge Entries
So here is my first entry and my first fly caught steelie ever!! Got this native hen on a popular yet strangely abandoned stretch of a local last Wednesday 12/30/09. What a ride! Two big aerials!! Sorry for the bad camera phone shot. She came out to 30.5".

3/20/2010, 25" native hen on a coastal river. Caught using one of the flies from the articulated fly swap (black & blue w/ plenty of flash).

Here is a fish from today - a very pretty wild hen heading back to the ocean. She was thin, but a conservative 32".
