Lost my best friend
My dad died this morning in his sleep.He was a Pearl Harbour Surviver and a great guy.I'm going to miss him a lot.He taught me so many things but mostly how to be a man.He's fishing with the big guy now.He had a son and daughter 5 grandkids and 3 great grandkids who loved him and will miss his
suttle little ways of sticking it to you,he turned 88,5 days ago and was doing really good we had a great dinner at his favorite place three days later he was rushed to the hospital brought him home and he died 2 days later.He fought cancer for three years the doctor's told him 6 months so he lived for 21/2 more years just to proof them wrong,never once did I hear him complain he was awesome,he was my best friend.

My condolences.
I lost my father 2 yrs ago. He was only 59 and my best friend as well.

My dad was just fine when he died. He went out on his walk and he never came home. My daughter was 8 years old and found him at the school yard bluer than the sky, she said.
My condolences to you and your family. He will be remembered, as your father and for his military status and a Pearl Harbor Vet. Gods speed to you. :depressed:

Your Father sounds like he was a strong, proud, loving, and giving man. For a son to refer to his father as his best friend, he must have been all of the above. You are greatly blessed. Take comfort in his comfort of his fine legacy. Honor his memory by passing on all he shared with you with yours, as he expects you to. And look forward to the day he once again shows you how to fish the heavenly waters that are now new to him.

I lost my father and bestfriend 1yr and 7days ago. It is a hard and difficult time I know, but be assured that he is in a much better place.
I'd like to share with you the words on my Dads' memorial service program:
God grant that I may live to fish
until my dying day,
And when my final cast I've made,
and life has slipped away,
I pray that God's great landing net
will catch me in it's sweep;
And God in his great mercy will
judge me big enough to keep.
I know as my Dad was that your Dad is a keeper!

Bob - My deepest sympathies for losing your dad and best friend. My dad is almost 80 and just lst night we went out for a burger, a beer and to shoot some pool. He and I travel and fish together and we both know nothing lasts forever. Dad says do everything you can while you still can. I can scarcely imagine the loss you are feeling now. Dennis

Bob, I pray Jesus will bring comfort to you and your family during this time. One thing really sticks out about your post, you said your dad was your best friend. WOW! that touches me deeply. What a great son you are and your dad was obviously a great guy.

Hey Bob let me jump on the band wagon here and say I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I have the good fortune of having my dad around still and we fish together all the time. Don't know how long he will be around but I enjoy him while I can.
Obviously you and your dad were very close. That is a precious memory for you to hold onto since many a man does not have this kind of a relationship with their parent.
May the Lord Bless you and your family Bob and may your dad find that Ultimate Springer Run in heaven. You do realize it is that time up there too don't ya Bob.
