Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Yes sir, a great man. Saddens me to think that his health has hindered his quality of life in years that should be much more joyful.
Happy Birthday Ronnie.

LS
Why?
At the last count I have lost 2 family members to
Alzheimer's disease and my poor Mother In Law has
been in hospice for over a year with the same.
Don't pity me, yourself....

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Happy Birthday, Mr. Reagan....a finer man would be very difficult to find.
I feel sorry for those who can not set aside their politics to make room for just a little compassion. :depressed: For those that can't, I just hope that more compassion is shown to you than you're able to show them if you're ever in the same situation.

Sorry, I thought you meant it was Shrub's b-day.
I have revised my earlier comment.

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Politics aside I wish Mr. and Mrs. Reagan well. History, not any of us, will decide if Reagan was a good president or not but I agree with C&E that it's a shame he couldn't enjoy his autumn years in good health.

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Giving Ronnie credit for the Berlin Wall coming down is like giving Bush credit for 9-11, widespread unemployment, record-breaking national debt, etc.

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Huh?
Does that mean it didn't happen, or that it doesn't matter, or what?
I assume that you are saying that all those things you listed for Dubya have happenend and are his doing, so that implies that the Wall was Ronnie's doing. Really not sure if you are going somewhere here, or just going......

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
I guess I meant a couple of things ...
Since you guys manage to blame everything bad on the previous administration, Jimmy Carter must get credit for the Berlin Wall?
The collapse of the Soviet Union was a result of conditions in that country, not because Ronnie told Gorby to "tear down this wall."
And why I bother, I truly wonder.
Reagan, let's see ... didn't he put Saddam Hussein in power? And provide him with weapons of mass destruction? What a guy.

Re: Happy Birthday Mr. President
Spin it any way you wish. History will judge President Reagan as being the largest influence contributing to the collapse of communism.
As Martha would say "It's a good thing".
Fishlips Carter praised the Berlin Wall, what did he have to do with it's removal?
All he did was create the single largest inflationary economy in US history and he dismantled the Military.
He will go down in History as one of the worst Presidents. Buba was a genius compared to Carter.

Political Party aside: If destroying communism isn't greatness then nothing is.
This is absolutly Correct. If you want to know more go here. http://www.parida.com/foxy1.html

Reagan did in fact beat the Soviet Union with his stradegy.
Bush Sr. Didn't like Reagan and when he took over as President he didn't realize the cold war was over.
What could Ronald Reagan say? Could he tell the country ANY or all of the following:
"I am going to force the Soviet Union to destroy themselves by starting an arms race which they will try to match"
"I am going to cause an internal revolution in the Soviet because if they try to match us in an arms race they will go bankrupt."
"I am going to outspend the Soviet Union and force them to try to match us weapon for weapon so that they will destroy themselves."
"I am asking for enormous armament money because I am going to outbluff the Soviet Union".
"I am going to start an arms race which will cause the Soviet Union to destroy themselves."
"I am going to create an internal revolution in the Soviet Union. My actions will lead the satellite countries to revolt.".
"As President of the United States I call on the people of the Soviet Union to revolt because I am going to bankrupt you."
THE POLICY OF CREATING AN INTERNAL REVOLUTION IS SO INCENDIARY, SO AUDACIOUS, THAT NO ONE EXCEPT THE
INNOVATOR COULD KNOW!
Reagon got that idea from Pierre Rinfret. Check it out.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Nice blanket statement. Every bit as valid as a blanket statement blaming the current administration for "everything bad". I didn't like Clinton, but show me where I have ever "blamed everything bad" on him, I dare ya.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Which was to spend them into oblivion. Look what the cold war did to our national debt...........you don't think a socialist economy is going to keep up with that do you? The only amazing part is that the lunkhead Soviet leadership couldn't see it coming like Ron did.
Reagan was a brilliant President, much like Bill Clinton. It's no wonder that both are generally disliked by the other side..........because they were so good at playing the game.
What do you need "history" to tell you about Reagan and Clinton? You were here for them both, right?
I never liked Reagan, but I respect him. I wish him well.
