Default Donaldson or Triploid trout.

As I was kicked off my river, the upper columbia, for steelhead, I headed east a bit above Chief Joseph dam in Washington. It's supposed to be the next big thing... catching genetically altered trout that cannot breed, only grow. Seems that the best way to catch these things is to throw out a big gob of power bait and marshmallows and sit till something swims by, swallows the hook, and you reel it in. I can't seem to enjoy fishing this way. The state record is pretty big at 29 and some odd pounds, but you can't keep the 5 pounders off.

So I guess this is my question.... Is this fishing or what? I know you can fish different ways for these things but it's just not bobber and jig fishing,(although I have caught a few this way). I'll try to post some pictures of these things, they look like fat footballs.

Why not fish for Lahotan? Omak Lake holds WA. record 18 lb 64 oz.
