Default Aloha has a new head football coach!!!!

Hey everybody, I happened across this and since I knew there are quite a few of us in the Aloha area I thought this might be of interest.
BTW, how many of you have or know of any kid's involved in Aloha Youth Football? My son played his first season this year and is looking forward to returning. They have a quality program.

Here is the press release:

Aloha High School Press Release; Monday, February 2, 2004

Aloha Hires Chris Casey as Head Football Coach

Aloha Principal Ralph Riden announced today that Aloha High School has hired Whitworth College Defensive Coordinator Chris Casey as their new head football coach. “Chris impressed the interview committee as someone who knows football very well and has great people skills. His attention to detail, motivational ability, leadership and dedication are qualities that put him over the top of the other candidates’ said Riden. Twenty eight candidates applied for the position which closed in mid-December. Casey takes over the Warrior helm from former coach Rob Casteel.

Casey leaves a Whitworth College football program that he helped reestablish as a Northwest Conference (NWC) playoff contender in his ten years as a Pirate. Whitworth was 26-14 in the past 40 games, league champions and national playoff team in 2001, nationally ranked in 2001 and 2002. Scoring defense under Casey over the past six years was 19.4 ppg. Whitworth led the conference in scoring defense in 2001 at 16.7 ppg. overall and 14.6 in conference. The Whitworth defense produced 16 first team all league selections during this time and had two Defensive Conference Players of the Year (2000 and 2001). Whitworth College Athletic Director Scott McQuilkin remarked “Each of our coaches wears a number of hats for their multiple responsibilities. What you hope to have in a coach is a person who not only does everything well, but does so with work ethic and integrity. That describes Chris Casey. Chris is a superior teacher, an excellent strength coordinator, a terrific coach, and a good person. Aloha High School has made a great hire. Their team will be in great hands under Chris's leadership.”

“Chris met with many different facets of the Aloha community (parents, players, youth football coaches, boosters) and all came away with a sense of excitement, enthusiasm and a desire to get going in the Chris Casey era of Aloha Warrior football” said Kevin Bryant, Aloha Athletic Director. “I originally got to know Chris when I was the Athletic Director at Whitworth College as I hired Chris away from Linfield. I know that Chris will come here and make the same difference he has at Whitworth on the football field and in the lives of the students he teaches and coaches”.

Casey will start his Aloha duties officially on August 1, 2004. He will begin to prepare his staff immediately and will begin working in an official capacity with Aloha football players this spring. Casey grew up in Newberg, OR. and played football at Linfield for legendary Wildcat coach Ad Ruschman. Casey is married, wife Kathleen and has four children. The Casey family will relocate during the early summer to the greater Portland area.

I don't live in Aloha, but my ex wife lives across 185th from the school. I went to a portland HS and they won the PIL this year. I did not follow Aloha that closely this year, so correct me if im wrong but it seems to me that they went something like 0 and 8 in 2003.

I can only hope that this new coach will turn that program around and bring some respect the warriors. Getting tired of seeing the same metro schools at the top every year.

I don't follow Aloha football or know anything about coach Casey but I saw a couple Aloha player interviews over the weekend that really impressed me. By listening to their interviews it's obvious coach Casey is having a positive impact on his players not only on the field but off as well. He sounds like a great coach and mentor for these young men.

Congrats on the state title.................

Awesome. I love seeing teams rise from the ashes. I bleed Westview Wildcat red and blue, but I am always happy to see someone atop the pile that isn't Jesuit or Lake Oswego.

Congrats to Warriors!

i want to thank all of you that attended the rally and the game. as a former player, and now an assistant on the staff at aloha it means the world to me that the program is doing so well, and even more so that the community has completely changed. we are a blue collar community and we embody coach Casey's philosophy of TAPE ( togetherness, attitude, perseverance, effort). it is awesome to see people talking about us not only in the news but on IFISH too. thanks again everyone, and now that the season is over some of us on staff finally have time to go duck hunting and fishing!!!

Mad props to Coach Casey. He was a coach while I was at Linfield. Great guy all the way.
