Smile Trask or Wilson with the Fly?

I'd love to have a shot at hooking a steelie with my fly rod sometime within the next couple of weeks. Mainly I'd just like to get out and about and enjoy the outdoors for a while...hooking one would certainly be an added bonus though. Any advice on which one might be more 'fly-friendly' (Trask or Wilson) this time of year would be greatly appreciated. Mile markers to park for decent river access would be appreciated too. Thanks!

The Wilson offers alot of access and pull offs starting at Elk Creek Camp ground. The Trasks banks from what I was told, is mostly private. Good luck.

That's accurate. The Wilson offers a lot of pullouts and such where you can park and walk to the water. Take a day and follow the advice above. Explore. Once you get to mile post 14 there's a lot of private land, with some limited access. Below Mills Bridge it's all private. There's tons of good water above 14.

The Trask is much more difficult as much of it is private. You really do need a boat or toon for the Trask.

The other thing with the Trask is that it fishes better late in the season. At least that is my experience. The lower river is all private and it seems that numbers of fish do not really show upriver until sometime in January. I have caught them in December but not in any decent numbers.
