Please write CBS and tell them how angry you were regarding the halftime show. I could not believe my eyes and ears nor could my children and my parents. :blush: What the heck were they thinking producing this show?

The Janet Jackson thing was obviously planned and I don't buy that the outfit malfunctioned. Why else would there be a pastie in place? Plus the sexually explicit dance moves (dry humping) were just sick).

I'm angry at CBS to show this kind of crap where tons of impressionable kids are viewing and adults that offended by this MTV crowd.

Write CBS and tell them how you feel.

I only watched a little bit of it and decided it was the worst half-time show I've seen. Wasn't worth my time to watch it.

Supposedly MTV was in charge of the show and CBS and the NFL are saying it's the last time they'll be involved.

What ticked me off the worst was kid rock (capitalizations would indicate respect) using the flag as a poncho. The grommets in two corners reveal that it wasn't a "replica".

Between the leering chimp, the farting horse, and the multiple erectile dysfunction commercials, I think it's safe to say that we have struck a new low. The half time show was pretty poor, but it was perfectly consistent with CBS's values, as shown by the ads they accept.

Oh come on, the farting horse commercial was hysterical...one of my favorites. Leering chimp? I must have missed that one. As for the erectile commercials, they were awful, but not distasteful...except that apparently they can cause erections to last 4+ hours and need medical attention! :shocked:

As for the halftime show, I thought it was a nice parade of have-been's showing up the music that made them famous 10 years ago. As for Janet, I didnt see it live, but heard about it later. 100% planned...oh well, freakish behavior apparently runs in the family.

Interesting that CBS denied some group access for an anti Bush commercial but allows the garbage TV to be aired.

It is not only the Superbowl and not only CBS, from what I have seen. It is most all of the prime time network shows.

We wonder why our kids are attracted to drugs, sex, beer and other things yet it is in their face every time they turn on the TV, if they are watching a major network.

I think I'll address the Kid Rock Flag issue. There was patriotic pride shown by a guy who represents a generation who've grown up disrespecting the flag in the name of, "Freedom of Speech." For those who loathed it, you don't understand it. His lyrics were changed to be "Pro-Patriotic" and his care for the symbolism of the flag was appropriate--when disrobing at the end of the song, he lifted both corners up and back--AND there was somebody there to recieve it--it was never on the ground. Fundamentally, was it appropriate? Probably more than the Dixie Chic's would've been. As far as the rest goes, WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH FISHING?

During the pregame gala, colored cards were handed out to the audience. On one side was an American flag. On the other side was a color. When the audience displayed the colored side to the field, the rear view was an inverted American Flag ... universal sign of surrender to the enemy. I was offended and shocked. Clearly the meat-heads were in charge.

I will definitely be writing a letter to CBS and letting them know they blew it big time. Can you imagine how the football players feel. Probably the biggest day in many of their lives and it was ruined by all that trash.
I gotta say though, the American Chopper AOL commercials were great. Poor Mikey. :shocked:

Wow, sounds like I missed a lot.

During the first half, I was outside shoveling dirt and pruning some trees. Pushing the wheelbarrow around, I noticed the very first flowers in bloom - snow lilies I think they’re called. The promise of spring was a welcomed sight.

While the game’s second half was underway, I grabbed a rain jacket went for a bike ride along the Columbia. During my ride I saw a harbor seal, a few thousand geese, various ducks, tundra swans, cormorants, and deer that were bedded down. I had a hard race with the empty Toyota ship as he steamed fast downriver headed to Japan, and then watched two eagles sitting on a new nest; me whistling back, trying to imitate (unsuccessfully) that distinctive keeee-keeee territorial call that one eagle was doing.

No sex, violence or low-brow humor – I missed it all.

As for shooting the TV, I suggest saving your ammo and buying a bicycle instead.

Glad I missed it. I watch ER and Star Trek. My kids watch PBS and PAX. The rest is garbage and not worth our time. It's sad to see that CBS has sunk to the level of NBC. I don't get CBS as we ditched the cable, and it doesn't come in for us.

Sorry, I was talking broadcast network, not cable. Discovery is pretty good, but the History Channel can occasionally have issues of spin and accuracy, albeit not major. I hang my head for my reckless blanket statement. :blush:

I think that we should censor television, radios and all reading material. These mediums are filled with evil. People are not capable of turning off the TV or deciding what they should listen to or read. Heck, let's have an old fashioned book burning. Heil Hitler!!

If you don't like what you are seeing, turn off the TV or change the channel. Please don't try and decide what is appropriate for me and my family. I can handle that job just fine.

MTV is a real as far as I'm concerned.

I spent the afternoon going for a run with my girlfriend and then taking her fishing. She landed a nice little rainbow trout. Worth way more than viewing the first three quarters of the game. :grin:

Doug, pretty hard to turn off the BOOBTUBE (pun intended) :grin: at the exact second a teet flops out for all American and the world to see. Plus, I did not have control of the remote yesterday or I would have "Hitler'd" that program in a second. As it was I had just sat down with a plate of chips and dip only to have my mouth drop to the floor unable to chew for a few minutes afterwards.

I think not. Granted, the lineup for the half-time show may have been some indication, but given the time it was airing, I personally would have hoped for some degree of decorum. Disappointed again. The only good thing that happened for us was pulling the ribs out of the que and sitting down to eat. Missed most of the half-time. Saw a little and just kept on moving. What I saw was sad.

Yes I was real disgusted with the half time garbage show. I did not watch the game much, I did turn the TV on about 7 min. before half time.
The family was getting ready to go to a evening Bible study. I did not see the exposure( man another nasty Jackson :shocked: )anyway I guess that is what the the producers think the general puplic wants to see.
The Super bowl big shots were on the news denying any knowledge of this being planed. If that is the case than I would like to see some actions taken , lets start with a apologie on TV from the people that did know about it.
It's all ratings and that means it about money, the low level that people will sink to for money is just disgusting.

Now as for the super bowl halftime show, i do not see a problem with it, for those with families, and children who saw it, its not like you have never seen it before(you have kids remember?)...All too often parents try to shield children and censor what they see and leave the vast majority of lifes education to come from hormones and peers, neither of these have ever spawned any good ideas or "creative solutions" to lifes problems. So what if we saw a boob...it could have been another Jackson showing us his privates...just be thankful for that...
Now on a serious note, parents instead of complaining should explain to thier children what just happened and also explain how it is a lewd act. Not just saying it is wrong, and coming on here and complaining about it. Talk to your kids when these things happen, it may not be the easiest but its something that needs to be done, in America not enough educating is going on from parents to kids about sex and drugs, most leave it up to the schools, and well i think we all know that they arent doing too good of a job.

As far as the half time show, COME ON, it had Kid Rock in it. He's a hero to the Nascar lovin inbreds of this country. How could it not be a trashy show (Just Kidding). Kid Rock is definately not the classiest of acts, even if I do enjoy his music.

I didn't catch any of the halftime show as I was busy basting the Guinea hens on the grill. After I heard what I had missed I had to see. So I downloaded a video clip off of the internet. They wasted no time posting the video. The one I downloaded was complete with slow motion closeups with Hey Ya by the Outcast playing in the background.

It is obvious that they had planned and rehearsed this event. Janet appeared to kind of twist on cue to get the maximum bounce. She snaps her head from right to left and then back, while twisting her torso at the same time.

What was shown did not offend me. However, I do agree that this display was outrageous given the forum. The Super Bowl. This is a family event. How did a sorry outfit like MTV get allowed to run some awful POP "cattle rump drippings" show during halftime? You really can't blame CBS. The networks have to compete with all of the cable stations that show anything they want.

I think once everyone calms down they will all forget about it. It is really not that big of a deal. In Europe they have naked bodies on billboards and in commercials.

Should they have done it? No. Should they suffer any dire consequences? No. There are so many more important things to be concerned about.

Today at the end of The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer they showed the faces, names, ranks and hometowns of eight more casualties in Iraq.

Who cares what janet jackson did. Or for that matter anyone from that freaky family.

I watched all of the first half, then at halftime finished hanging crown molding and a chair rail in the nursery...came back to the action early in the 3rd quarter. I peeked at the half time show briefly in-between cuts, and realized I wasnt missing much.

Besides the commercials being so-so (most not appropriate for my kid) and a totaly disgusting half time show (also not appropriate for my kid), the CBS game time camera work was some of the worst I've ever seen. Way to many camera shots of the ground and they didn't show replay on a lot of the plays they should have IMHO. Then we get to the game annoncers, way to much commentary and verble stat fupo's. I can't believe CBS would actually air some of what they did and not even let us watch the streaker :grin: .

Next year if CBS/MTV are invovled I think I'll watch women's basketball instead :grin:

(at least it would have been entertaining to laugh at) The potty humor the companies used will backfire on them And I'm willing to bet we won't see those comercials again.

Interesting what FCC Chairman Micheal Powell had to say on Good Morning America to Charlie Gibson. Powell was offended by the entire program not just Jacksons teet stunt.

$27,000 fine for CBS and FCC could fine each affillate $27,000. More of a hand slap than anything else it seems.
