Its what they call making more money. Keep the supplies low on purpose make people panic then what happens oil prices sky rocket then gas prices go up.

Let it happen for a few weeks, then look for good airline and transport stocks. Perhaps JB Hunt, Jet Blue, or Airtran for example...

I can completely understand the oil companies' actions. I wouldn't load my inventory up with high cost oil, either, if I thought prices would be cheaper in two months. And if that action had the side effect of increasing the value of my current inventory, well, hm-m-m-m.

JB Hunt? Are you kidding me?

I understand their buying strategies. Believe me, when the prices start to spike I'll be busier than a one-armed paper hanger with crabs in a windstorm.

What I have a problem with is this:

Pump, I'm a trader. Traders can't put anything into a market that isn't already there. Suppliers and end-users can affect prices, through bringing more oil to the market, or through changing fuel sources to reduce consumption.

I don't follow oil, so I don't know the details. But the prices that we are seeing strike me as normal market variation. I'll look into it a bit more and report back.

Don't think much of JB, huh? Who do you think runs the best trucking company? From a money grubbing capitalist standpoint, that is...

Default Uh-oh......hang on to your wallets!

Apparently the Forces of Evil are getting into position to really put the hurt on us.

Low petroleum inventories

What irks me is that the government is playing along with the oil companies.
Oops....stupid me! I forgot that we have a Big Oil president.

SH, I'm completely ignorant of market matters. Sometimes I wish I knew more about the financial world, and sometimes I'm glad I don't.

I try not to follow oil, but unfortunately it follows me.
I think you're right about the variation. If anything really abnormal was happening, my boss would be in a lather. I'm actually more concerned about a drop in wholesale natural gas prices that I recently heard about.

JB Hunt was the incarnate evil that rose to prominence from the 60's to the 80's. Horror stories about the way they treated their employees and undercut their competitors abounded. Of course, this was during the deregulation years of the early 1980's, and there were a lot of disgruntled people around.
The old timers like to talk about how relative newcomer mega-carriers like Swift, Schneider, Werner and a few others have taken the heat off of JB Hunt by reaching new lows in employee relations.
From the standpoint of the bottom line, I'm sure they're great. But so is Wal Mart, and I've made my feelings quite clear about the Walton family.
But it's the same in any business. A great place to work isn't usually a great place for investors.
