Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
It is that time of year again and with all the talk on here about people shutting it down for the rest of the season I decided to start this contest again. Hopefully this will get a few of you back out on the water. Since there is no prize for this contest the rules are going to be real simple. Just reply to this thread with a pic of you bass. You don't need a pic of the fish with today news paper or anything BUT, you DO need a pic of the fish. We will just use the honor system here for the date and time. The winner is the person who catches the last bass of 2009. Bass must be caught in OR, Wa, or ID since this is a PNW site.
The winner of the 2008 contest was caught on 12/17 by Midnghtshdow

Good Luck.

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
Howdy! I've never posted over here before, but thought I'd start off the pictures with this little fella I caught today, 11-25 on Cape Mearse lake. Only the second bass I've caught in OR, and this one bit a little tiny hotshot that I was trolling for trout. 19", I dunno how much it weighed, maybe 3 lbs?

I think dave will. Although i would like to say i am going to, due to my Family schedule this time of year that is not likely. I might go out a couple times.

The title LAST Bass scared me I thought you had seen the item on National news a couple of nights ago that showed male Bass all over the USA that were morphing into females and they are wondering about the cause which made me recall that this happened in the Mediterranean to clams some years ago and the University of Malta determined that it was not PCB's but auto exhaust fumes that settled on the surface and eventually sank down to the sea bed predominately in Harbors
Who would have thunk it?

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
Still no Dec. bass?
Maybe I will have to give it a go this weekend. Looks like joloni is in the lead so far.
Maybe I will have to sneek out this weekend. Weather should be just about perfect. If you like freezing rain that is.

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
salembassin, let us know if you make it out. I noticed parts of the river were iced over yesterday.
I still plan on being out there tomorrow as long as the boat ramp is not iced over. I will need to keep my eyes open for icebergs that break away tonight and will be floating down river. I am used to watching for logs and such but I never thought I would to worry about icebergs. Still that is what will make the trip a blast. And if I can actually catch a bass in this weather......

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
well, i made it out even tho technically i fall outside of jurisdiction in northern California. but the weather was equally crappy so i thought it would be a fair bet. We had a turkey shoot with my local pontoon club. 5 boaters fished a small pond in the heavy rain. I got zero bites all day. All the fish that were caught were flippin, who would have thunk.
the only thing i learned was that i can still have fun fishing in terrible conditions even without a bite. I also learned my weatherproof jacket only worked for 3 of the 6 hour tounry.
good luck to all in this friendly competition. stay safe and be careful!

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
Well I was unable to make it out on Saturday and looking at my calendar, it looks like I am out for the year.
So good luck to everyone who will still be out looking for the last bass of 2009.

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
My partner and I caught 3 fish, and lost 1 in a tournament on Lake Washington Dec 5, 2009. It was only a 6.5hr tourny. The fish were 3.5, 2.75, and 1.63lbs.

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
gave an attempt monday, tuesday and wednesday at tenmile. buddy has a boat access cabin there. pipes were froze as well as the water in the toilet... mice had gotten into everything... coffe pot was broken... coffee was old anyhow... wiring in cabin started shorting out... only NES game that worked properly was mike tyson's punch out... rained non-stop really really hard... motor on boat wouldn't start half the time because water was getting in the fuel tank somehow... forgot clean socks and a toothbrush... trolling motor battery and back up battery died after the long trips back to the dock when the big motor wouldn't start... we forgot the battery charger... found out expensive raingear works everywhere but oregon coast... and caught zero fish.
A disaster of a trip as well as the most fun I've had in a long time. I was glad to be on the water... (even if i did spend more time in the cabin trying to dry myself out) If it wasn't a bazillion dollars a gallon for gas I would go again tomorrow.

I have had some luck this time of year at tenmile with my nephews in years past. We were fishing in the heat of the day, out of the wind in the northermost small cove on north lake with finesse worms called greenie meanies. You had to deadstick them on the bottom around the edges of the docks.......Decided to leave Iowa for another job posssibility but may end up back home. I sure miss my grandson!

Skeeterman - I think that counts. I don't think those Cali guys should be able to weigh in on the last one caught, but as long as it is the Northwest it's all good. Nice work

I believe you made it. Congrats.
I think that since 1bigfish had made this a tradition here on the bass board that we should have a prize for the winner. And I think that Roger should offer a guided bass fishing trip as the first prize. Nice of me to offer Roger's services huh? Just kidding Roger. No worries.

Congratulations Skeeterman. Good on ya to hunt one down just before the end of the year.

Re: Who will catch the last bass of 2009?
Went up river on the 31st and only managed to catch a Jeep Liberty w/ the rear bumper.
Manage to avoid a major wreck but unfortunately the gal behind me wasn't so savy w/ her icey driving skills.
Completely destroyed her rig's front end, but only bent the Dodge's bumper up.
Oh well, guess I get some new chrome.
